The inhomogeneity of density and mechanical properties of A357 aluminum alloy in the semi-solid state were investigated. Numerical simulation and backward extrusion were adopted to study the preparation of cup shells. The results show that the relative density of the wall is the lowest in samples, and that of the base is the highest.

The stress state of the rock mass with spherical cavity [PDF]
One of the main hypotheses accepted in the mechanics of deformable solids is the assumption of the homogeneity of materials. This means that all mechanical characteristics of the material (modulus of elasticity, Poisson’s ratio, yield strength ...

Mechanically switchable solid inhomogeneous phantom for performance tests in diffuse imaging and spectroscopy [PDF]
A mechanically switchable solid inhomogeneous phantom simulating localized absorption changes was developed and characterized. The homogeneous host phantom was made of epoxy resin with black toner and titanium dioxide particles added as absorbing and scattering components, respectively.

Abstract Li7La3Zr2O12 (LLZO) is well received as a solid electrolyte for batteries. Its excellent properties render the implementation of lithium (Li) metal batteries, leading to the improvement of the performances of the batteries. However, a short-circuit failure by Li propagation through the LLZO is a crucial issue and major obstacle for Li-based ...
