Sampling-based learning control of inhomogeneous quantum ensembles

open access: yes, 2013
Compensation for parameter dispersion is a significant challenge for control of inhomogeneous quantum ensembles. In this paper, we present a systematic methodology of sampling-based learning control (SLC) for simultaneously steering the members of ...

PAIRING IN INHOMOGENEOUS SUPERCONDUCTORS [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics B, 2000
Starting from a t-J model, we introduce inhomogenoeus terms to mimic stripes. We find that if the inhomogeneous terms break the SU(2) spin symmetry the binding between holes is tremendously enhanced in the thermodynamic limit. In any other model (including homogeneous models) the binind in the thermodynamic limit is small or neglible.

Composite Electrospun Fibers Containing Optimized B‐ and Cu‐Doped Bioactive Glass Sol‐Gel Particles for Potential Soft Tissue Engineering Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article describes the preparation and characterization of poly(ε‐caprolactone) electrospun composite fibers incorporating sol‐gel‐derived bioactive glass particles doped with B and Cu. Scanning electron microscopy, energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy, Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy, contact angle, acellular bioactivity, mechanical and ...

Violation of a Bell inequality in two-dimensional spin-orbit hypoentangled subspaces

open access: yes, 2011
Based on spin-orbit coupling induced by q-plates, we present a feasible experimental proposal for preparing two-dimensional spatially inhomogeneous polarizations of light.

Inhomogeneous cosmologies, the Copernican principle and the cosmic microwave background: More on the EGS theorem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We discuss inhomogeneous cosmological models which satisfy the Copernican principle. We construct some inhomogeneous cosmological models starting from the ansatz that the all the observers in the models view an isotropic cosmic microwave background.

Efficient Process Development for Laser Powder Bed Fusion of a Soft‐Magnetic Metallic Glass Composite

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Iron‐based metallic glass alloys exhibit excellent soft‐magnetic properties, and unprecedented geometrical freedom in the design of soft‐magnetic metallic glass components is made possible by additive manufacturing. An efficient workflow for developing parameters for laser‐based powder bed fusion of a Fe‐based metallic glass alloy is presented along ...

Multiscale Modeling of Silicon Carbide Cladding for Nuclear Applications: Thermal Performance Modeling

open access: yesEnergies
The complex multiscale and anisotropic nature of silicon carbide (SiC) ceramic matrix composite (CMC) makes it difficult to accurately model its performance in nuclear applications.

Inhomogeneous Polyakov loop induced by inhomogeneous chiral condensates

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2015
We study the spatial inhomogeneity of the Polyakov loop induced by inhomogeneous chiral condensates. We formulate an effective model of gluons on the background fields of chiral condensates, and perform its lattice simulation.

Nonlinear Dynamics on the Plane and Integrable Hierarchies of Infinitesimal Deformations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
A class of nonlinear problems on the plane, described by nonlinear inhomogeneous $\bar{\partial}$-equations, is considered. It is shown that the corresponding dynamics, generated by deformations of inhomogeneous terms (sources) is described by Hamilton ...

Acoustics in Moving Inhomogeneous Media

open access: yes
The book deals with sound propagation and scattering in moving inhomogeneous media. Although the theories presented in this book are much broader in scope, the main interest lies in sound propagation in the atmospheric boundary layer.
