Late Neolithic metal axes are rarely found during archaeological excavations. In the autumn of 2015, however, it did happen. Metal detecting at Eskilstorp in south-west Scania (fig. 1) revealed a Late Neolithic axe of the Pile type (figs 2–3). The Eskilstorp axe turned out to be unique. It is a silvercoated copper axe.
