THE INITIAL VALUE PROBLEM IN NUMERICAL RELATIVITY [PDF]
The conformal method for constructing initial data for Einstein's equations is presented in both the Hamiltonian and Lagrangian picture (extrinsic curvature decomposition and conformal thin sandwich formalism, respectively), and advantages due to the recent introduction of a weight-function in the extrinsic curvature decomposition are discussed.

Stochastic variation in the FOXM1 transcription program mediates replication stress tolerance
Cellular heterogeneity is a major cause of drug resistance in cancer. Segeren et al. used single‐cell transcriptomics to investigate gene expression events that correlate with sensitivity to the DNA‐damaging drugs gemcitabine and prexasertib. They show that dampened expression of transcription factor FOXM1 and its target genes protected cells against ...

Initial-boundary value problems for nearly incompressible vector fields, and applications to the Keyfitz and Kranzer system [PDF]
We establish existence and uniqueness results for initial boundary value problems with nearly incompressible vector fields. We then apply our results to establish well-posedness of the initial-boundary value problem for the Keyfitz and Kranzer system of conservation laws in several space dimensions.

Numerical relativity approach to the initial value problem in asymptotically anti–de Sitter spacetime for plasma thermalization: An ADM formulation [PDF]
This article studies a numerical relativity approach to the initial value problem in Anti-de Sitter spacetime relevant for dual non-equilibrium evolution of strongly coupled non-Abelian plasma undergoing Bjorken expansion.

This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Smoothness of solutions of conjugate boundary-value problems on a measure chain
In this paper we consider the n-th order $Delta$-differential equation (often refered to as a differential equation on a measure chain) $$u^{Delta_n}(t) = f(t, u(sigma(t)),dots, u^{Delta_{n-1}}(sigma(t)))$$ satisfying n-point conjugate boundary ...

Transformation of boundary value problems into initial value problems
AbstractIn a previous paper of the author (SIAM Review, 1962, pp. 43–47), the idea of Blasius for the transformation of the B.V.P., y‴ + yy′' = 0, y(o) = y′(o) = 0, y′(∞) = 2, into a pair of similar I.V.P.'s was extended to D.E.'s or systems of D.E.'s of any order which were invariant under certain groups of homogeneous linear transformations.
