Principles and Early Historical Development of Silicon Avalanche and Geiger-Mode Photodiodes [PDF]
The historical development of technology can inform future innovation, and while theses and review articles attempt to set technologies and methods in context, few can discuss the historical background of a scientific paradigm.

We investigated the effect of manganese and selenium substitution on BaTiS3 using density functional theory calculations performed with Quantum Espresso. Elemental tuning narrows the band gap from 0.71 to 0.312 eV, slightly modifies stability and conductivity, and preserves p‐type behavior, highlighting the potential of controlled doping for energy ...

From Computational Indeterminacy to the Causal Relevance of Mental Content
ABSTRACT A central claim in contemporary cognitive science is that the neural mechanisms that bring about cognitive capacities and behavior are computations. It is also widely assumed that computations are not sensitive to the content, or the semantic properties of representations.

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

Bechgaard Salt‐Like Polymers and Their Applications in Organic Electronics
The report presents a flexible conducting polymer micro‐wire grown from the vapor phase via an oxidative polymerization route. Electrical measurements show that the produced micro‐wires have relatively high conductivity and non‐linear electrical characteristics.

This work demonstrates bistable graphene doping of about 5 × 1012 cm−2$\rm{c{m}^{-2}}$ using a molecularly thin electrolyte confined between two, 2D crystals. The electrolyte's bistability enables multiple non‐volatile states with a conductive AFM tip writing, erasing, and sensing these states.

Reliability-driven assessment of GaN HEMTs and Si IGBTs in 3L-ANPC PV inverters [PDF]
In this paper, thermal loading of the state-of-the-art GaN HEMTs and traditional Si IGBTs in 3L-ANPC PV inverters is presented considering real-field long-term mission profiles (i.e., ambient temperature and solar irradiance).
