Numerical Simulation of Multi Injector Cylinder Head Engine Concept Enhancing Fuel Atomization

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2021
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">The insufficient level of atomization of the fuel drops in direct-injection engines is a major cause of pollutant emissions because of the incomplete combustion process. The fuel injection is a critical part of the homogeneous air-fuel mixture.

Failure Analysis of a MEMS Micro-Injector Printing Head

2007 14th International Symposium on the Physical and Failure Analysis of Integrated Circuits, 2007
The failure mechanism of a monolithic MEMS twin-bubble micro-injector failed to eject ink smoothly has been investigated. A model that analyzes the thermal expansion mismatch among the nozzle plate, the silicon substrate, and the PPO housing is proposed to explain the failure mechanism of the MEMS micro-injector printing head.

Influence of the Injector Head Geometry on the Particle Injection in Plasma Spraying

Journal of Thermal Spray Technology, 2020
In plasma spraying, the particle velocity at the injector outlet has significant influence on the particles’ penetration into the plasma jet. The geometry of the injector and the flow rate of the carrier gas determine the particle velocities. Based on numerical simulations, it is evident that higher particle velocities and thus, a deeper penetration of

Experimental Collision and Swirl of CFD Simulated Fuel Sprays in a Dual Injector Cylinder Head Concept

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2023
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">A higher level of atomization of the fuel leads to a more homogeneous mixture with the air in internal combustion engines, whether they are equipped with direct injection or port fuel injected systems. The further break-up of the atomized fuel drops by the interaction of two fuel

Analysis of hydro-abrasive erosion in a high-head Pelton turbine injector using a Eulerian-Lagrangian approach

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part A: Journal of Power and Energy, 2023
High-head hydropower plants deploy Pelton turbines to harness energy; however, turbine components face severe abrasive erosion due to suspended sediments. The erosion of the Pelton injector leads to the degradation of the jet quality, reducing the turbine efficiency considerably.

Study on Mechanism of Coiled Tubing Surface Damage in Injector Head

SPE/ICoTA Well Intervention Conference and Exhibition, 2019
Abstract According to literature, most failures of coiled tubing are classified into four kinds of causes, mechanical damage, corrosion, string manufacturing, and human error. Among these, the failures due to mechanical damages take 29% of all failures.

Influence of Injector Head Geometry on Particle Injection in Plasma Spraying

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2019
Abstract This study assesses the effect of injector geometry on particle injection in plasma spraying. Numerical simulations show that high particle velocities can be realized with an injector that is significantly longer than the norm. In order to verify the prediction, injectors with different diameters and lengths were used to spray ...
