Hepatectomy for Severe Liver Injury
Archives of Surgery, 1966TRAUMA to the liver is an increasingly common problem. While substantial progress has been made in the management of penetrating wounds, the mortality following blunt injuries has remained high, well over 50% despite antibiotics, transfusion, and use of other modern adjuncts to surgery. This figure is even more alarming when one contemplates the steady

Critical Care Medicine, 1980
Injury severity scales of proven reliability and validity are essential for the appropriate allocation of therapeutic resources, for prediction of outcome, and for evaluation of the quantity and quality of emergency medical care in differing facilities and over time. Quantitation of injury severity in the field is particularly necessary.

Ulusal travma ve acil cerrahi dergisi = Turkish journal of trauma & emergency surgery : TJTES, 2008
This study was performed to compare the efficacies of Injury Severity Score (ISS) and New Injury Severity Score (NISS), and to investigate whether replacing ISS with NISS in Trauma and Injury Severity Score (TRISS) changes the predictive power for mortality. We retrospectively analyzed 550 patients aged over 16 years seen in our center over a period of ...

Abstract The measurement of injury severity is an essential element of the use of injury epidemiology for injury control. In any given year, virtually everyone experiences minor injuries, such as small scratches, bruises, and burns. Most of these heal with little or no treatment and do not interfere with one’s activities.
