Stereo video inpainting

SPIE Proceedings, 2011
As the production of stereoscopic content increases, so does the need for post-production tools for that content. Video inpainting has become an important tool for rig removal but there has been little consideration of the problem in stereo. This paper presents an algorithm for stereo video inpainting that builds on existing exemplar-based video ...

Good Keyframes to Inpaint

IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 2023
Diminished Reality (DR) propagates pixels from a keyframe to subsequent frames for real-time inpainting. Keyframe selection has a significant impact on the inpainting quality, but untrained users struggle to identify good keyframes. Automatic selection is not straightforward either, since no previous work has formalized or verified what determines a ...

Inpainting the colors

IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2005, 2005
A framework for automatic image colorization, the art of adding color to a monochrome image or movie, is presented in this paper. The approach is based on considering the geometry and structure of the monochrome luminance input, given by its gradient information, as representing the geometry and structure of the whole colored version. The color is then

Denoising by Inpainting

2017
The filling-in effect of diffusion processes has been successfully used in many image analysis applications. Examples include image reconstructions in inpainting-based compression or dense optic flow computations. As an interesting side effect of diffusion-based inpainting, the interpolated data are smooth, even if the known image data are noisy ...

Inpainting quality assessment

Journal of Electronic Imaging, 2010
We propose a means of objectively comparing the results of digital image inpainting algorithms by analyzing changes in predicted human attention prior to and following application. Artifacting is generalized in two catagories, in-region and out-region, depending on whether or not attention changes are primarily within the edited region or in nearby ...

An image inpainting method

Ninth International Conference on Computer Aided Design and Computer Graphics (CAD-CG'05), 2006
Image inpainting technique has been widely used for reconstructing damaged old photographs and removing unwanted objects from images. In this paper, we present an image inpainting method based on the existing exemplar-based image inpainting idea. Our method improves the robustness and effectiveness by rational confidence computing method, matching ...

Self-Similarity Inpainting

2009 16th IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2009
We present a novel means of texture inpainting, dubbed Self-Similarity Inpainting, that uses the Self-Similarity Descriptor to implicitly encode complex structures through a summary of local neighborhood comparisons. Pixel patches are selected from a codebook based on descriptor distance in their original locale and after the proposed insertion.

Image compression with inpainting

2012 IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology (ISSPIT), 2012
In common wireless scenario, the data needs to be efficiently compressed by utilizing the channel bandwidth and thus to increase the data bit rate. The image is transmitted over the channel block by block. We can enhance the compression performance by intelligently choosing blocks from the image with non-relevant information in it.

Digital inpainting

Proceedings of the 15th ACM international conference on Multimedia, 2007
Digital inpainting is an interesting research topic in multimedia computing and image processing since 2000. This tutorial will cover the most recent contributions in image inpainting / image completion, video inpainting, and 3-D surface completion. In the literature, the first intention of image inpainting was to remove damages portions of an aged ...

Anisotropic Inpainting of the Hypercube

IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2012
Airborne pushbroom sensors produce images by acquiring scenes on a line-per-line basis. Depending on the motions of the aircraft carrying the sensor, the line integration time, and the targeted spatial resolution, missing areas may appear on geocorrected images. Missing pixels in geocorrected images are usually tackled by means of interpolation methods,
