The Integrated Simulation and Processing Tool for Ground Based Synthetic Aperture Radar (GBSAR)

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Technology and Applied Physics, 2019
Ground-based Synthetic Aperture Radar (GBSAR) is a tremendous example of the extended applications of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). GBSAR is extremely useful in human-made structure observations, terrain mapping, landslide monitoring

Unzipping of the Conjugate Fault System During the 2024 Mw7.4 Hualien Earthquake

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 13, 16 July 2025.
Abstract On 2 April 2024, a Mw7.4 earthquake struck Taiwan's eastern coast near Hualien City. The fault responsible for the mainshock remained under debate due to the region's complex plate boundary system and intricate fault interactions. To determine the fault plane and resolve the rupture process, we analyzed local and teleseismic waveform ...

Monitoring Potential Geological Hazards with Different InSAR Algorithms: The Case of Western Sichuan

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
In recent years, the number of geological disasters in Sichuan Province has significantly increased due to the influence of earthquakes and extreme climate, as well as the disturbance to the geological environment by human activities.

Spatiotemporal evolution of land subsidence around a subway using InSAR time-series and the entropy method

open access: yesGIScience & Remote Sensing, 2017
The underground railway network of Beijing City, China, which is an important urban infrastructure, has burgeoned with the expansion of the city. However, the influence of subway construction and operation on local subsidence has received minimal ...

Assessment of Mitigation Strategies for Tropospheric Phase Contributions to InSAR Time-Series Datasets over Two Nicaraguan Volcanoes

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) studies of ground displacement are often plagued by tropospheric artifacts, which are phase delays resulting from spatiotemporal variations in the refractivity of air within the troposphere. In this study,

Injection‐Related Hazards in the Permian Basin as Characterized by Spaceborne InSAR and In Situ Measurements

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 13, 16 July 2025.
Abstract Wastewater injection in Texas has led to leakage at compromised wells and anomalous seismicity. We use Sentinel‐1 Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) surface deformation maps and a suite of ground measurements to characterize injection‐related hazards. In Crane County, we measure ∼ ${\sim} $53 cm of uplift in a 5 km2 ${\text{km}}^{

Coherent Markov Random Field-Based Unreliable DSM Areas Segmentation and Hierarchical Adaptive Surface Fitting for InSAR DEM Reconstruction

open access: yesSensors, 2020
A digital elevation model (DEM) can be obtained by removing ground objects, such as buildings, in a digital surface model (DSM) generated by the interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) system. However, the imaging mechanism will cause unreliable

Potential and constraints of uncrewed aerial vehicle orthoimagery for rivers: A direct comparison with field measurements for mapping boulders

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 50, Issue 8, 30 June 2025.
Both field and drone surveys are commonly used to map river landforms. Comparing the two, we found that drones consistently underestimated boulder density and coverage by 30%, with the difference best explained by water depth. Abstract Technological advances continue to improve our ability to detect landforms and landscape changes.
