Accidental water scalds to the face and to the neck can occur when a boiling kettle falls. A common variety of water or steam scald to the neck is produced by car radiators when a driver inadvertently uncaps the radiator of an overheated car. A blast of steam and boiling water damage the face and the associated part of the neck.
