AN INTRASEASONAL BIOECONOMIC MODEL OF PLRV NET NECROSIS [PDF]
A bioeconomic model is developed as an IPM planning tool to combat PLRV net necrosis in the PNW potato industry. Environmental/biological and production processes are linked to marketing activities using discrete time control. We find that pesticides can

Alkylene-bis-isothiocyanates: Novel Insect Growth Regulators
In search for selective anti-insect agents some mono- and bis-isothiocyanates were prepared and tested on third instar larvae of Manduca sexta. The alkylene-bis-isothiocyanates 4, 5 and 6 had a novel effect preventing formation of the abdominal spiracles and of the hooks (crochets) at the following molt to the 4th instar.

The Role of Ionic Liquids at the Biological Interfaces in Bioelectronics
Ionic liquids (ILs) are highlighted as key artificial ionic materials that bridge biological ion‐based signaling and electronic devices. By understanding their composition, structure, function relationships, and mechanisms, ILs can advance from high performance electrolyte to core materials enabling integrated, multifunctional bioelectronics for ...

Effects of methoxyfenozide on ecdysone receptor complex expression in larval Asian gypsy moth
As a target of insect growth regulators, the ecdysone receptor complex binds ecdysone agonists to regulate gene transcription, development, and growth.

Diapause in the Boll Weevil, Anthonontus grandis Boheman, As Related to Fruiting Activity in the Cotton Plant [PDF]
Studies in Arkansas show that boll weevil diapause is related to changes in fruiting activity of the cotton plant. Generally, when larval development took place while fruiting levels were increasing or being held at a high level, diapause in resulting ...

This study discovered a new pathway that tells fruit flies when to stop eating. It found that rising blood sugar (fructose) is detected by a sensor called GR43a. This triggers a chain reaction involving the satiety signal sulfakinin and its receptor, ultimately activating a final satiety signal, ILP5.

We identify a Lepidoptera‐conserved testis‐specific arylalkylamine N‐acetyltransferase (LTNAT) that governs male moth fertility via a novel mechanism. LTNAT loss disrupts eupyrene sperm mitochondrial derivatives and impairs apyrene sperm motility, offering a safe molecular target for innovative pesticides and genetic pest control.
