Commercial permethrin elicits chemoreceptive responses on different Anopheles gambiae sensory appendages

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 9, Page 8609-8617, September 2026.
Anopheles gambiae mosquitoes exhibit takeoff responses when presented to commercial permethrin headspace. This product elicits electrophysiological activity in the antennae and tarsi. However, only the chemical information acquired from the tarsi plays a major role in the observed behavioral response.

Microbiome‐mediated chemical communication in insects: Implications for pest management

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 9, Page 8132-8151, September 2026.
Microbiome–semiochemical interactions involve the following processes: direct microbial synthesis, host gene regulation, precursor biotransformation, microbiome modulation and indirect ecological signaling. Abstract Insects rely on semiochemicals to regulate aggregation, mating, foraging, and host selection. This review synthesizes evidence that insect‐

Extracts From Perilla frutescens and Artemisia argyi Offer a Novel Strategy for Sustainable Integrated Management of Citrus Huanglongbing

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 5, Issue 3, September 2026.
Schematic summarizing the triple functions of Perilla frutescent and Artemisia argyi extract against the citrus HLB, encompassing psyllid repellency, plant immune activation and pathogen reduction. ABSTRACT Citrus Huanglongbing (HLB), a devastating global citrus disease caused by the unculturable phloem‐limited bacterium Candidatus Liberibacter ...

Care Praxis–Driven STEM Design for Sustainable and Just Communities in Middle School

open access: yesJournal of Research in Science Teaching, Volume 63, Issue 7, Page 671-690, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Despite the growing interest in incorporating care ethics into STEM education, these topics are rarely integrated into K‐12 standards and pedagogical practice. We explore how care praxis, a political and ethical approach to STEM education, supports students' sense‐making in addressing real‐world problems throughout STEM design, merging social,

Squash silverleaf disorder and whitefly (Bemisia tabaci MEAM1) infestation: Implications for plant disease management in a changing climate

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, Volume 189, Issue 2, September 2026.
Squash Silverleaf Disorder (SLD) is growing in its economic impact due to the invasive behaviour of the silverleaf whitefly (Bemisia tabaci MEAM1). In this review we summarize what is currently known about the whitefly‐squash interaction, how both the disease and the whitefly are being affected by climate change, and discuss current and novel ...
