Clove Buds Essential Oil: The Impact of Grinding on the Chemical Composition and Its Biological Activities Involved in Consumer's Health Security. [PDF]

open access: yesBiomed Res Int, 2021
This study is aimed at identifying the chemical composition of the essential oil extracted from the Syzygium aromaticum seeds, as well as investigating its biological activities, insecticide effect, and allelopathic properties. The extraction yield was about 14.3 and 7.14% for grounded and ungrounded seeds, respectively.

Domestic Exposure to Chemicals in Household Products, Building Materials, Decoration, and Pesticides: Guidelines for Interventions During the Perinatal Period from the French National College of Midwives

open access: yesJournal of Midwifery &Women's Health, Volume 67, Issue S1, Page S113-S134, November/December 2022., 2022
Introduction We are exposed to numerous pollutants inside our homes. The perinatal period represents a particular window of vulnerability during which these exposures can have negative health effects over a more or less long term. The objective of this article is to formulate guidelines for health care professionals and intended for parents to reduce ...

Biodegradation of water‐soluble and water‐dispersible polymers for agricultural, consumer, and industrial applications—Challenges and opportunities for sustainable materials solutions

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, Volume 60, Issue 12, Page 1797-1813, 15 June 2022., 2022
Abstract The development of more sustainable material solutions is one of the key challenges today. New materials are subject to an overall risk assessment of which their impact on the environment is an important aspect. The biodegradability of a material may support a positive risk assessment.

Evaluating the link between predation and pest control services in the mite world

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 10, Issue 18, Page 9968-9980, September 2020., 2020
In vitro tests have been confronted with mite inventories and airborne DNA analyses. Three out of seven taxa of native predatory mites are able to feed on Dermanyssus gallinae. The same three predators are associated with the parasite in poultry houses. We've detected no obvious signals from any pest control service.

Beyond medicine: A proof of concept for synergy analysis in ecotoxicology

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 9, Page 1983-1991, September 2025.
Abstract Interactive effects among chemicals, such as synergism and antagonism, are increasingly studied in ecotoxicology and environmental research. However, these interactions are often assessed using a biased, point‐wise approach that overlooks dose‐dependent effects.

Biodegradable Polymers for Plant Nutrient Delivery and Recovery

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, Volume 25, Issue 8, August 2025.
This review article discusses the use of biodegradable polymers to address several grand challenges in agriculture: to improve the delivery of nitrogen and phosphorous to crops, to optimize plant uptake, and to enhance the recovery of these nutrients from wastewater, to recycle them and reduce water pollution. Abstract The current use of fertilizers is

Opinion and report of the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) relating to an analysis of the health risks associated with exposure to caterpillars with stinging hairs and the development of management recommendations

open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 3, Issue 2, April 2025.
Abstract Several species of Lepidoptera with caterpillars bearing urticating hairs are increasing their range in metropolitan France from year to year, such as the pine processionary (Thaumetopoea pityocampa Denis et Schiffermüller 1775) whose presence was historically limited to the south of France, and which is gradually being observed in the north ...
