Silicon nitride polarisation beam splitters: a review

open access: yesIET Optoelectronics, 2020
In this work, the authors review different design setups of polarisation beam splitters (PBSs) developed in Si3N4 platforms. They analyse different approaches based on directional couplers and interferometers.

A Comparison of Papoulis and Chebyshev Filters in the Continuous Time Domain [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2021
The subject of this paper is the revisit of the Chebyshev (equiripple) and Papoulis (monotonic or staircase) low-pass filter in order to compare. It can be stated the fair comparison of Papoulis and Chebyshev filters cannot be found in the available ...

Ultracompact monolithic integration of balanced, polarization diversity photodetectors for coherent lightwave receivers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
The authors have monolithically integrated an optical front-end on InP for balanced, polarization-diversity coherent lightwave reception which is only 1.3-mm long. Low on-chip insertion loss (

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Pre-Insertion Resistor Temperature Prediction Based on a Novel Loss Function Combining Deep Learning and the Finite Element Method

open access: yesEnergies
During transmission line faults, the pre-insertion resistors in circuit breakers accumulate heat and lead to thermal explosion during repeated closing.

Low-Loss THz Waveguide Bragg Grating using a Two-Wire Waveguide and a Paper Grating

open access: yes, 2013
We propose a novel kind of the low-loss THz Waveguide Bragg Grating (TWBG) fabricated using plasmonic two-wire waveguide and a micromachined paper grating for potential applications in THz communications.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

A consideration for attenuation of expanded silencer

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2022
An expanded silencer is well known in all other silencers and widely used in an industry field. As the theory of the expanded silencer has already been established and it is considered to be useful because it has good visibilities of the silencing effect.
