Detection of freezing of gait in Parkinson's disease from foot-pressure sensing insoles using a temporal convolutional neural network

open access: yesFrontiers in Aging Neuroscience
BackgroundsFreezing of gait (FoG) is a common and debilitating symptom of Parkinson's disease (PD) that can lead to falls and reduced quality of life.

Landscape and Geography Determine Saproxylic Beetle Captures in Pheromone‐Baited Traps

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
Pheromone‐baited traps at 39 forest sites across southern Sweden captured 58 saproxylic beetle species, including seven Red‐listed taxa. The effect of surrounding forest cover on beetle abundance may depend on latitude and longitude: positive effects were strongest in warmer southern and eastern regions but weakened or reversed in colder northwestern ...

A proposal for simplifying the labelling of sunscreens

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
A binary system for classifying the magnitude of protection provided by topical sunscreens is proposed and examples of potential symbols for labelling sunscreens are illustrated here. Phototesting is limited to a single area of sunscreen‐protected skin and avoids assessment of the minimal erythema dose on sunscreen‐protected skin.

Risk Factors and Clinical Severity in Chronic Venous Disease: A New Look

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
Genetic factors, such as gender and positive family history, were associated with the occurrence of mild‐stage disease (CEAP C1–3). Obesity, lack of exercise, and working more than 8 h in a sitting or standing position are strongly associated with severe venous disease (CEAP C4–6).

Forecasting Climate Change Using a Multivariate Cointegrated System

open access: yesOxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A cointegrated vector equilibrium correction model of key climate variables including sea surface temperature, ocean heat content, Arctic sea‐ice extent and sea‐level change is built, driven by radiative forcing in which a stochastic trend arises due to anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases.

Sedimentary biogeochemical provinces in the northern limit of the oxygen minimum zone from the northeastern Mexican Pacific

open access: yesSedimentology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Continental margins are reservoirs of materials of terrestrial and marine origin, and they play a crucial role in understanding the spatial and temporal variability of biogeochemical cycles. This, in turn, provides insights into the development and intensity of oxygen minimum zones (OMZs).
