Vector-Based Navigation Inspired by Directional Place Cells
We introduce a navigation algorithm inspired by directional sensitivity observed in CA1 place cells of the rat hippocampus. These cells exhibit directional polarization characterized by vector fields converging to specific locations in the environment, known as ConSinks [8].Harrison Espino, Jeffrey L. Krichmar

Human Ears Inspired Passive Microwave Direction Finding
2009Abstract : We have investigated biological inspired RF direction finding techniques with the goal to learn and utilize the amazing acoustic direction finding capabilities of human and achieve compact, high performance and low-cost RF direction finding devices. Our initial simulation and experimental results are very encouraging.

A fly-inspired multi directional MEMS microphone
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of AmericaInspired by the hearing mechanism of the fly Ormia Ochracea, we demonstrated a MEMS diaphragm capable of pressure and pressure gradient sensing in two orthogonal directions. The diaphragm is circular and suspended by multiple spring arms along its circumference. Each spring contains a piezoelectric film on its top surface.

Direct laser writing in bio-inspired photonics
2017 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC), 2017Direct laser writing (DLW) is a powerful tool toward the development of ultimate three-dimensional (3D) photonic devices. Because of the increasing demand for realising nano-geometries, the diffraction-limited resolution associated with DLW should be overcome to access the nanoscale.
