The Extent and Cause of the Pre–White Dwarf Instability Strip
One of the least understood aspects of white dwarf evolution is the process by which they are formed. We are aided, however, by the fact that many H- and He-deficient pre-white dwarfs (PWDs) are multiperiodic g-mode pulsators. Pulsations in PWDs provide a unique opportunity to probe their interiors, which are otherwise inaccesible to direct observation.

Understanding Operando Water Management in Hydroxide‐Exchange‐Membrane Fuel Cells
Effective water management is vital for high‐performance hydroxide‐exchange‐membrane fuel cells. Using a custom water‐flux station, this study quantifies how membrane thickness, microporous layers, and operating conditions dictate internal water transport.

Loading rate effects on infrasound characterization of uniaxial compression damage in marble
Low-frequency infrasound signals are distinguished by minimal energy attenuation and robust penetration capabilities, endowing them with notable advantages for non-contact monitoring of rock fracture.

Liquid metal additives are processed in elastomer host resulting in highly conductive and stretchable composites. The material functions as a piezoresistive sensor with minimal drift, low stiffness, and enhanced operating range. The film can replace wires to charge a mobile phone at ∼350% strain and monitors bodily motion in real‐time via a portable ...

The instability strip of ZZ Ceti white dwarfs and its extension to the extremely low mass pulsators
peer reviewedThe determination of the location of the theoretical ZZ Ceti instability strip in the log g − Teff diagram has remained a challenge over the years, due to the lack of a suitable treatment for convection in these stars.

A self‐healing and electrically conductive liquid metal elastomer enables robust self‐soldering of surface mount devices for soft electronics. Photothermally activated conductive pathways, strong pressure‐sensitive adhesion, and stable package‐integrated contacts provide high conductivity and extreme stretchability.

The Newly Discovered Pulsating Low Mass White Dwarfs: An Extension of the ZZ Ceti Instability Strip
peer reviewedIn light of the exciting discovery of g-mode pulsations in extremely low-mass, He-core DA white dwarfs, we report on the results of a detailed stability survey aimed at explaining the existence of these new pulsators as well as their ...

Finite element modelling of the instability in rapid fracture of graphene
A finite element model of graphene strip is developed to predict the instability of dynamic fracture, in which the C-C bonds are represented by Timoshenko beam elements, and the constitutive relation of beam is derived from the atomic potential.
