The Instability Strip of M3 [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 2000
AbstractWe present new multicolour CCD photometry of the central part of the globular cluster M3, mapping the precise position of ~ 120 RR Lyrae stars (RRab, RRd, RRc) on the horizontal branch (HB). The location of the double-mode variables (RRd) is in perfect agreement with recent theoretical results.

Instability Condition Derivation for Hydraulic AGC System under Pressure Closed-Loop Control

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2021
In strip rolling, hydraulic automatic gauge control (HAGC) system is the key element to guarantee the precision of strip gauge. The stability of the kernel pressure closed loop (PCL) in the HAGC system plays an essential role in guaranteeing the rolling ...

Confining the Edges of the GW Vir Instability Strip [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1995
AbstractGround based optical spectroscopy as well as EUVE and HST observations are used for model atmosphere analyses of PG1159 stars in order to confine the GW Vir instability strip.

On the Structure of the Cepheid Instability Strip [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1975
Using rich photometric material on the Cepheids in the Galaxy and the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds, the structure of the instability strip in the HR diagram is investigated. The method of the δ-δ diagrams is used, δ being the difference of certain Cepheid characteristics from the means for a given period.

Stability Analysis of Box Tunnel Working Face under Non-Uniform Support Pressure

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
For rectangular section tunnel construction, soil bin pressure fluctuates under biaxial emergence conditions. Support pressure is difficult to uniformly distribute, and it can easily cause instability of the tunneling face.

A search for non-pulsating, chemically normal stars in the Scuti instability strip using Kepler data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We identify stars in the δ Sct instability strip that do not pulsate in p modes at the 50-μmag limit, using Kepler data. Spectral classification and abundance analyses from high-resolution spectroscopy allow us to identify chemically peculiar stars, in ...

CONTEMPORARY PROBLEMS OF ASTRONOMY: THE CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF CEPHEIDS AND RELATED STARS

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2017
In the short form we present the main results of spectroscopic analysis of the different kind of Cepheids and related stars: double-mode Cepheids, s-Cepheids, non-variable supergiants situated inside the Cepheids instability strip and Cepheids first time

Numerical simulation and experimental research on cracking mechanism of twin-roll strip casting

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2022
Based on the three-dimensional field of molten pool and twin-roll strip casting experiments, this work verified the cracking mechanism of the strip by establishing mathematical model and rolling experiments. The results showed that due to the instability

Spatiotemporal dynamics for a diffusive mussel–algae model near a Hopf bifurcation point

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2021
In this paper, the Hopf bifurcation and Turing instability for a mussel–algae model are investigated. Through analysis of the corresponding kinetic system, the existence and stability conditions of the equilibrium and the type of Hopf bifurcation are ...

Instabilities in a drop-strip system: a simplified model [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2012
Abstract We study the deformation of an elastic strip by a liquid drop. At small enough scales, capillarity is the dominant fluid effect and surface tension forces may be sufficient to fold the beam, resulting in the wrapping of the drop by the beam.
