Instabilities in a drop-strip system: a simplified model [PDF]
We study the deformation of an elastic strip by a liquid drop. At small enough scales, capillarity is the dominant fluid effect and surface tension forces may be sufficient to fold the beam, resulting in the wrapping of the drop by the beam. However, wrapping of the drop can be inhibited by the weight of the beam, which creates an energy barrier.

Current-induced dendritic magnetic instability in superconducting MgB2 films
Magneto-optical imaging reveals that in superconducting films of MgB2 a transport current creates avalanche-like flux dynamics where highly branching dendritic penetration patterns are formed.

The Araucaria Project: A study of the classical Cepheid in the eclipsing binary system OGLE LMC562.05.9009 in the Large Magellanic Cloud [PDF]
We present a detailed study of the classical Cepheid in the double-lined, highly eccentric eclipsing binary system OGLE-LMC562.05.9009. The Cepheid is a fundamental mode pulsator with a period of 2.988 days. The orbital period of the system is 1550 days.

Objective We conducted formative research aimed at identifying solutions that address inequitable health outcomes in lupus due to adverse social determinants of health (SDoH). Methods We conducted a search for keywords, which provided insights into potential solutions and initiatives underway. An advisory panel of lupus experts iteratively reviewed the

Are the stars of a new class of variability detected in NGC~3766 fast rotating SPB stars? [PDF]
A recent photometric survey in the NGC~3766 cluster led to the detection of stars presenting an unexpected variability. They lie in a region of the Hertzsprung-Russell (HR) diagram where no pulsation are theoretically expected, in between the $\delta ...

Addressing Economic Insecurities Can Improve Patient‐Reported Outcomes in Lupus
Background Economic insecurities, such as food, housing, transportation, and financial challenges, are modifiable risk factors and influence patient‐reported outcomes (PROs) in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We examined: 1) associations between economic insecurities and PROs; 2) the impact of screening and addressing economic insecurities during ...

The Hot Limit of Solar-like Oscillations From Kepler Photometry
Kepler short-cadence photometry of 2,347 stars with effective temperatures in the range 6,000–10,000 K was used to search for the presence of solar-like oscillations.
