Mobile Instant Messaging for the Elderly

open access: yesProcedia Computer Science, 2015
AbstractWhile the use of Mobile Instant Messaging (MIM) has been expanding vastly along with mobile technology, existing MIM applications have not sufficiently addressed the needs of elderly users. MIM applications have great potential to support social interactions, and thus contribute to the well-being of the elderly.

Gate‐Align‐SED: Semi‐Supervised Sound Event Detection via Adaptive Feature Gating and Cross‐Task Alignment in Situation Awareness

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Overview of the proposed Gate‐Align‐SED, including two stages of training: (1) Mean‐Teacher SSL Training; and (2) Enhancer Model Training. In complex real‐world environments such as disaster monitoring, effective sound event detection (SED) is often hindered by the presence of noise and limited labeled data.

Neuromorphic Denoising with Fully Analog Memristive In‐Memory Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article borrows the concepts of episodic memory in human brains to experimentally implement a memristor‐based neuromorphic denoising process. A homogeneous memristor processing unit is experimentally demonstrated for both temporal storage and neural network computation, imitating the synapses in the human brain.
