Instantaneous spectra and instantaneous frequency

Proceedings of the IEEE, 1970
A simple relation exists between the instantaneous frequency and the instantaneous spectrum of an analytic signal which does not depend on an assumption that the instantaneous frequency varies slowly.

Instantaneous Tonometry

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1983
Respiration and arterial pulse cause intraocular pressure to cyclically vary around a mean pressure. Both the respiratory and arterial pulse waves approximate sine waves, and we have represented the IOP cycle as the sum of sinusoidal pressure waves. A rapidly acting tonometer may record any portion of the IOP cycle.

Instantaneous Conventions.

Psychological science, 2018
Humans can communicate even with few existing conventions in common (e.g., when they lack a shared language). We explored what makes this phenomenon possible with a nonlinguistic experimental task requiring participants to coordinate toward a common goal.

Instantaneous spectral moments

Journal of the Franklin Institute, 2000
Abstract Density functions find application in many fields of science, math and engineering. In many cases, the density can be sufficiently characterized by some of its moments, particularly the mean, variance, skew and kurtosis. In signal analysis, densities of interest are the instantaneous power of the signal, the spectral density, and for signals

How Instantaneous are Instantaneous Shut-In Pressures?

Proceedings of SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1982
ABSTRACT Instantaneous shut-in pressure is a term commonly employed, but often used indiscriminately. Shut-in pressure is conventionally regarded as a static pressure-equilibrium condition existing between a slightly open fracture and the in-situ stress regime.

Instantaneous Power Spectra

Journal of Applied Physics, 1952
The intuitive concept of a changing spectrum is discussed. The instantaneous power spectrum is defined mathematically and used to make the intuitive concepts more precise. It depends upon the past history of a signal, but not upon the future. Integration of the instantaneous power spectrum over time yields the conventional energy ...

Instantaneous tissue homogenization

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1963
Abstract Description is given of a steel block homogenizer, operating at temperatures below 0° utilizing the freezing-point depression occurring at high pressures. The advantages are: (a) low operating temperature; (b) no diluent required. For the enzymes tested no destruction due to the treatment seems to take place. The effect of storage upon some

Instantaneous frequency and its instantaneous deviation

Journal of Modern Optics, 2004
Using statistical language, the instantaneous frequency of a deterministic signal, such as an electromagnetic pulse collected at a point in space, is a location function and its deviation is a shape function. The former is better defined than the latter, which can be computed an infinity of different ways, some of which can exhibit pathologies.

Instantaneous portfolio theory

Quantitative Finance, 2016
Instantaneous risk is described by the arrival rate of jumps in log price relatives. As a consequence there is then no concept of a mean return compensating risk exposures, as zero is the only inst...
