An Extended Kalman Filter Approach for Accurate Instantaneous Dynamic Phasor Estimation

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
This paper proposes the application of a non-linear Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) for accurate instantaneous dynamic phasor estimation. An EKF-based algorithm is proposed to better adapt to the dynamic measurement requirements and to provide real-time ...

3D planar velocity measurements, using Mach-Zehnder interferometric-filter-based planar Doppler velocimetry (MZI-PDV) and imaging fibre bundles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Three component planar flow-field measurements are made using imaging fibre bundles to port different views of the measurement plane, defined by a laser light sheet, to a single imaging head.

Crystal Growth Engineering for Dendrite‐Free Zinc Metal Plating

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This research employed the rare‐earth ion dysprosium (Dy) to modulate aqueous zinc (Zn) metal plating. Integrated multiscale experiments and computational modeling unveiled the preferential adsorption of Dy on specific crystal facets, which activated screw dislocation‐driven Zn growth.

Extended Short-Time Fourier Transform for Ultrasonic Velocity Profiler on Two-Phase Bubbly Flow Using a Single Resonant Frequency

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
This study introduces a measurement technique for simultaneous phase-separated velocity in two-phase bubbly flow. The non-invasive technique, based on an Ultrasonic Velocity Profiler (UVP), is used in order to obtain an instantaneous, separate velocity ...

Self‐Cooling Molecular Spin Qudits

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A material made of [GdEr] molecular dimers can encode a qudit and perform as a magnetic refrigerant. Microwave resonant pulses coherently manipulate its 16 spin states, while direct demagnetization measurements cool the material and a device down to temperatures below 1 K.

Self‐Assembled Inorganic Nanomembrane Tubes: Rolled‐Up Piezoelectrics for Microacoustic Wave‐Based Actuators and Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a self‐assembly process to generate free‐standing piezoelectric nanomembranes, forming ultracompact microtubular acoustic wave sensors and actuators. The miniaturized 3D piezoelectric platform reported in this work can be applied in telecommunication, energy harvesting, and acoustofluidics. Moreover, the 3D self‐assembly can add

Broadband instantaneous frequency measurement based on stimulated Brillouin scattering

open access: yesOptics Express, 2017
A technique for the instantaneous frequency measurement (IFM) of broadband signals is proposed based on stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in a single-mode optical fiber. The instantaneous frequency and amplitude information is obtained by the narrowband filtering of the acoustic-optic interaction in the SBS process.

Room‐Temperature Skyrmionic Synapse in 2D Ferromagnet Fe3GaTe2 Operating via Collective Spin Texture Transformation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate a neuromorphic synapse in 2D Fe3GaTe2 flakes. The device operates via a current‐driven transformation from a skyrmion‐lattice to a stripe‐domain state, yielding a linear anomalous Hall resistance response with a tunable slope to enable multiply‐accumulate operations. Simulations confirm its viability in artificial neural networks.
