The NLRP3 Inflammasome: Mechanisms of Activation, Regulation, and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
Diverse diseases converge on NLRP3. We depict a discovery‐to‐clinic track: high‐throughput/phenotypic screens, structure‐guided design, and modality innovation (allosteric inhibitors, interface blockers, degraders) deliver third‐generation, disease‐tailored NLRP3 control.

Modelling the effect of varying metabolic rate and cardiac output on estimated tissue and blood O2 and CO2 levels in an extreme deep‐diver, the goose‐beaked whale (Ziphius cavirostris)

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 3, Page 765-785, 1 March 2026.
Abstract High‐resolution movement data from Cuvier's beaked, or goose‐beaked whale (Ziphius cavirostris, hereafter Ziphius, n = 8) tag deployments (4.1–19.2 days) were used to estimate blood and tissue O2 and CO2 levels. Acceleration and magnetometry data were used to estimate the locomotion cost (LC) from the relationship between activity and the O2 ...

A Novel Attention‐Weighted VMD‐LSSVM Model for High‐Accuracy Short‐Term Traffic Prediction

open access: yesIET Intelligent Transport Systems, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
Our VMD‐LSSVM‐Attention framework dynamically adjusts parameters via attention weights, achieving a 38.6% improvement in prediction accuracy over traditional models on the Italian highway dataset. Experiments demonstrate superior performance in MAE (14.303), MAPE (14.039%), and RMSE (15.081) metrics, with robustness across diverse traffic scenarios (e ...

A Real-Time Signal Measurement System Using FPGA-Based Deep Learning Accelerators and Microwave Photonic

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Deep learning techniques have been widely investigated as an effective method for signal measurement in recent years. However, most existing deep learning-based methods still face difficulty in deploying on embedded platforms and perform poorly in real ...

New Dual‐Polarised Fractal FSS Frequency Discriminators for IFM Based on Balanced Gray‐Code

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas &Propagation, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper demonstrates the design and experimental validation of four frequency selective surfaces for instantaneous frequency measurement. A fractal based pattern has been used to significantly reduce the size of each FSS, whereas their frequency response were tuned to provide a balanced Gray‐code output which provide less variation in fractional ...

Enhancing Wind Turbine Diagnostics With SCADA‐Vibration Fusion, Contrastive Learning, and Linear Predictive Coefficients

open access: yesStructural Control and Health Monitoring, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Wind energy plays a pivotal role in the transition to sustainable power generation. However, maintaining the reliability and efficiency of wind turbine (WT) remains a significant challenge due to complex operational conditions and the high cost associated with unexpected failures.

Excitation Energy Transfer between Porphyrin Dyes on a Clay Surface: A Study Employing Multifidelity Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, Volume 8, Issue 11, November 2025.
Inspired by natural light‐harvesting systems, this study computationally investigates a synthetic antenna by arranging cationic free‐base porphyrin molecules on an anionic clay surface. Using a multiscale quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) approach combined with a multifidelity machine learning method, excitation energies are predicted ...

Effects of Plate‐Bone Contact on Bridge Plate Fracture Fixation Biomechanics: Computational, Experimental, and Analytical Modeling

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, Volume 43, Issue 9, Page 1606-1618, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Bridge plating is commonly used for internal fixation of comminuted fractures. The inner working length between screws has been established as a key parameter controlling postoperative biomechanical stability. However, plate‐bone contact may affect these biomechanics in complex ways, and the offset between the plate and bone is variable across

Nonlinear control of a hybrid pneumo‐hydraulic mock circuit of the cardiovascular system

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, Volume 35, Issue 10, Page 3962-3998, 10 July 2025.
Abstract Hybrid cardiovascular mock circuits (HMC), designed for dynamic testing of Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD), offer physiologic accuracy by sequestering model complexity in silico and ease of construction by reducing number of model elements in vitro.

Suppression of Stacking Faults for Stable Formamidinium‐Rich Perovskite Absorbers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 26, July 3, 2025.
The authors show that the (011)C perovskite planes are prone to stacking faults formation in all leading formamidinium‐rich perovskite compositions. Using ethylene thiourea as a precursor additive, Othman et al. suppress those vulnerable facets, significantly enhancing the absorber's intrinsic stability under various operational conditions.
