The response of graphene and MoS2 monolayers to highly‐charged impinging ions is investigated using nonequilibrium Green functions theory. Electronic correlations are found to have a significantly stronger influence on the ultrafast ion‐induced electron dynamics in MoS2 than in graphene.

We present a compatible finite‐element discretisation of a general formulation of moist shallow‐water equations, with the aim of providing a simple model to advance understanding of physics–dynamics coupling. We detail set‐ups and show three moist shallow‐water test cases in four different model formulations. The results demonstrate differences between

We exploit the Field Experiment on Sub‐mesoscale Spatio‐Temporal Variability in Lindenberg (FESSTVaL) to compare the performance of an NWP model at sub‐km resolutions with a traditional LES model. Focusing on clear‐sky ABL turbulence (June 14), shallow convective clouds and surface radiation (June 27), and deep convective cold pools (June 29), we find ...

Characteristics of diabatically influenced cyclones with high wind damage potential in Europe
Diabatic processes contribute, on average, 26% to the intensification of European winter storms, with diabatically driven cyclones exhibiting steeper deepening rates, stronger wind gusts, and increased precipitation. These storms are linked to enhanced warm conveyor belt (WCB) activity and develop in a warmer environment with elevated lower ...

Blinking Optical Tweezers for Atom Rearrangements
The work introduces an energy‐efficient method for holding and rearranging an N ×$\times$ M array of atoms using only N optical tweezers, using just 1M of the optical power per atom. In the proof‐of‐concept experiments, single blinking tweezer holds M = 9 atoms and further facilitates rearrangement M = 4 ∼$\sim$ 5 atoms in various configurations ...

Instantaneous wave-free ratio to guide coronary revascularisation
EuroIntervention, 2017Determining the optimal treatment strategy for revascularisation of coronary artery stenosis involves the use of fractional flow reserve (FFR). To improve the low clinical uptake of physiological lesion assessment to guide revascularisation, the instantaneous wave-free period (iFR) was proposed as a simpler alternative to FFR that does not require ...

Instantaneous Wave-Free Ratio Assessment
2016Instantaneous wave free ratio (iFR) may be a viable alternative to FFR. iFR is a novel measurement of the hemodynamic relevance of coronary lesions which doesn’t require the use of hyperemic agents.
