Abstract Landslides represent one of the most devastating natural hazards in mountainous regions, posing significant threats to human safety, infrastructure and ecosystems. It is well established that there is a connection between meteorological factors and landslide occurrences but the mechanisms of these interactions and the impacts of climatic ...

Abstract The voluminous active volcanoes of the Revillagigedo Islands of Socorro and San Benedicto in the east Pacific Ocean exhibit hotspot geochemistry. However, the presence of a deep mantle plume has not been seismologically confirmed. Instead, a fossil subducted slab is identified in the lower mantle underneath the volcanoes. Moreover, the islands

The dentition of the Late Jurassic dwarf sauropod Europasaurus holgeri from northern Germany: ontogeny, function, and implications for a rhamphotheca-like structure in Sauropoda [PDF]
The basal macronarian sauropod Europasaurus holgeri is known only from the Late Jurassic of the Langenberg Quarry near Goslar, Lower Saxony, Germany. Europasaurus has been identified as an insular dwarf and shows a clear resemblance to Camarasaurus and ...

Two new alkaline sulfatometallates show promising optical absorption, emission and even non‐linear optical properties together with an astonishingly high thermal stability. The new sulfatotungstate Cs6[(WO2)2O(SO4)4] exhibits a hitherto unknown anion with an unusual W–O–W angle of 180° and edge‐sharing WO6 and SO4 polyhedra.

Ordering of tetrahedral and octahedral layers in synthetic lepidolites and Li-muscovites: two-dimensional {1H} → 29Si ∕ 27Al CPMAS HETCOR and {19F} → 29Si ∕ 27Al CPMAS HETCOR spectroscopy [PDF]
Cationic ordering in the octahedral and tetrahedral sheets of synthetic lepidolites with composition K(LixAl3−x)[Si2xAl4−2xO10](OH)yF2−y and Li-muscovites with K(LixAl2-x/3□1-2x/3)[Si3AlO10](OH)yF2−y has been investigated using two-dimensional (2-D) {1H ...

RioM‐1: A New Calcite Reference Material for U‐Pb LA‐ICP‐MS Geochronology
Key Points RioM‐1 calcite was characterised for trace elements, U‐Pb geochronology, Sr and O isotopes using ID‐TIMS, LA‐ICP‐MS and SIMS. U‐Pb dates from ID‐TIMS and LA‐ICP‐MS across several independent laboratories returned identical results within uncertainty.
