On the Role of Dynamical Uncertainties in the Spread of Arctic Ozone Recovery Projections
Abstract Arctic ozone is projected to recover over the 21st century in compliance with the Montreal Protocol. Chemistry‐climate models show a large spread in recovery rates and future changes in key dynamical features such as the polar vortex and the residual circulation.

A transient ensemble of convection‐permitting climate simulations is used to compute bias‐corrected user‐relevant climate indices for Germany under recent and future climate conditions, both considering high spatial resolution and uncertainty estimations. For high temperature indices, a clear increase is observed, for example, for hot days and tropical

Airborne wind lidar observations over the North Atlantic in 2016 for the pre-launch validation of the satellite mission Aeolus [PDF]
In preparation of the satellite mission Aeolus carried out by the European Space Agency, airborne wind lidar observations have been performed in the frame of the North Atlantic Waveguide and Downstream Impact Experiment (NAWDEX), employing the ...

Chemistry–climate feedback of atmospheric methane in a methane-emission-flux-driven chemistry–climate model [PDF]
The chemical sink of atmospheric methane (CH4) depends on the temperature and on the chemical composition. Here, we assess the feedback on atmospheric CH4 induced by changes in the chemical sink in a warming climate using a CH4-emission-flux-driven set ...

In-flight emission measurements with an autonomous payload behind a turboprop aircraft [PDF]
This paper reports on the successful first deployment of a new, autonomously operating measurement system on a Grob G 520 Egrett aircraft, which was used as a chase aircraft to perform in-flight aerosol and trace gas measurements of engine exhaust from ...

Abstract Subgrid machine‐learning (machine learning [ML]) parameterizations have the potential to introduce a new generation of climate models that incorporate the effects of higher‐resolution physics without incurring the prohibitive computational cost associated with more explicit physics‐based simulations.

Contrail Formation Within Cirrus: Contrail Induced Perturbations and Cirrus Adjustments
Abstract Contrail formation constitutes a large fraction of the aviation climate impact. But only part of the effect has been studied in detail, as research focused on contrail formation in cloud‐free air. Even though it is known that the impact of contrail formation within cirrus can be detected in space‐born remote sensing data, little research has ...

Abstract We find observational evidence for mountain waves (MWs) and secondary gravity waves (2GWs) in the OH*(3‐1) layer above Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. On the night of 21–22 May 2018, the Advanced Mesospheric Temperature Mapper (AMTM) obtained temperatures at ∼84 ${\sim} 84$ km.
