A Physical Model of a Single-Reed Wind Instrument, Including Actions of the Player [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
For the Physical Modeling Synthesis of wind instruments, we choose to design a model adapted to time domain simulation which takes into account the main part of the physical phenomena, including instrument/player interactions.

Accessibility Instrument Survey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This chapter presents the main results of the Accessibility Instrument Survey (AIS), collecting basic information on each of the accessibility instruments reviewed in this report (for more detail on these Instruments see Chapter 3). The aim of the survey

μDirac: an autonomous instrument for halocarbon measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We describe a new instrument (μDirac) capable of measuring halocarbons in the atmosphere. Portability, power efficiency and autonomy were critical design requirements and the resulting instrument can be readily deployed unattended on a range of platforms:

Improving instrument recognition in polyphonic music through system integration

open access: yes, 2014
A method is proposed for instrument recognition in polyphonic music which combines two independent detector systems. A polyphonic musical instrument recognition system using a missing feature approach and an automatic music transcription system based on ...

An instrument for the multiparameter assessment of speech [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
This paper describes the development of SNORS+, a clinical, user-friendly instrument for measurement of the articulators during speech. The design criteria for the instrument were based upon a wide-ranging review of current practice and available ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Instrumental Variables Regression with Weak Instruments [PDF]

open access: yesEconometrica, 1997
Summary: This paper develops asymptotic distribution theory for single-equation instrumental variables regression when the partial correlations between the instruments and the endogenous variables are weak, here modeled as local to zero. Asymptotic representations are provided for various statistics, including two-stage least squares (TSLS) and limited

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
