Factors Affecting Intracanal Instrument Fracture

2017
Several parameters have been implicated in the fracture process of root canal instruments. Factors such as the operator’s skill and proficiency, the shape of the access cavity, the anatomy of the root canal, the design and manufacturing of the instrument, the motors used to drive the instruments and their particular operating parameters, the ...

Shen Instrumentation for the Management of Unstable Thoracolumbar Fractures

Spine, 1998
A retrospective study was carried out using Shen instrumentation, which is a modified pedicle rod sleeve spinal system, to perform reduction and fusion in patients with unstable thoracolumbar fracture. To demonstrate that the simple, locally made pedicle rod sleeve instrumentation is as effective as conventional systems in the management of ...

The Impact of Instrument Fracture on Outcome of Endodontic Treatment

Journal of Endodontics, 2005
Adoption of rotary nickel-titanium instruments has renewed concerns regarding instrument fracture and its consequences. The frequency of instrument fracture and its impact on treatment outcome were determined from an analysis of specialist endodontic practice records involving 8460 cases.

Instruments Used in Fracture Reduction

2018
Reduction is an essential part of a successful fracture fixation procedure. It facilitates anatomical restoration of the affected bone fragments allowing restoration of bone continuity and thus promoting bone healing. It can be achieved either by open or closed approaches using different instruments and different techniques. In this chapter an overview

Vertebral fracture assessment: impact of instrument and reader

Osteoporosis International, 2009
Many osteoporotic vertebral fractures are not clinically recognized but increase fracture risk. We hypothesized that a newer generation densitometer increases the number of evaluable vertebrae and vertebral fractures detected. We also explored the impact of reader experience on vertebral fracture assessment (VFA) interpretation.VFA images obtained ...

Anterior Instrumentation in the Management of Thoracolumbar Burst Fractures

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1997
Anterior instrumentation in the treatment of thoracolumbar fractures has progressed significantly during the past 2 decades. These fixation systems have evolved to meet the anatomic, biomechanical, and imaging challenges associated with internal fixation of the thoracolumbar spine.

Minimally invasive instrumentation of uncomplicated cervical fractures

European Spine Journal, 2015
Many authors favor conservative treatment options in oligo-symptomatic non-dislocated cervical fractures. This is mainly because of adverse events, anesthesia times and blood loss associated with surgical treatment of these injuries. We, therefore, sought to minimize the invasiveness of the surgical treatment of simple cervical fractures using image ...

Harrington instrumentation for thoracic and lumbar vertebral fractures

Acta Orthopaedica Scandinavica, 1984
Thirty-seven patients with fractures of the thoracic and lumbar spine treated with Harrington instrumentation were reviewed. Twenty-seven patients with a follow-up time of more than 2 years were summoned for a clinical and radiographic examination. This report presents the results related to reduction, stabilization, return of neural function, spinal ...

Harrington instrumentation as a method of fixation in fractures of the spine

The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 1982
The results of the use of Harrington rods in the treatment of spinal fractures were reviewed. It was found that with burst fractures where the anterior pillar was deficient there was a significant incidence of loss of reduction. Anterior bone supplementation is recommended in these fractures when major loss of height or angulation occurs.
