Monolithic Integration of ScAlN Modulators on Silicon‐On‐Insulator Platform

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Monolithic integration of scandium‐doped aluminum nitride (ScAlN) modulators on a silicon‐on‐insulator platform is reported. A multilayer electrode design enhances RF‐optical field overlap, enabling direct access to the diagonal electro‐optic coefficient and improved modulation efficiency.

NIR/VIS Dual‐Comb Spectroscopy Comparing High and Low Repetition Rate Regimes

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This work compares dual‐comb spectroscopy at lower and higher repetition rates, emphasizing the inherent trade‐off between spectral and temporal resolution. The 80 MHz system provides high‐resolution spectra suitable for analyzing complex molecular structures, whereas the free‐running 1 GHz platform enables fast measurements for real‐time trace gas ...

Anisotropy Analysis of Bamboo and Tooth Using 4‐Angle Polarization Micro‐Spectroscopy

open access: yesNano Select, EarlyView.
Super‐resolution via orientation: spatial distribution of specific molecular vibrations are revealed at 1/20 of the diffraction limit. ABSTRACT To investigate the anisotropic properties of biomaterials, two distinct classes are considered as follows: polymer‐based (cellulose in plants) and crystalline‐based (enamel in teeth), each demonstrating ...

Exploration of the use of short‐wave infrared radiances in weather forecasts model Part II: Data assimilation and forecast impact assessment

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
The standalone non‐local thermodynamic equilibrium (NLTE) bias correction schemes, utilizing a look‐up‐table and a linear regression method developed in Part I and new quality control procedures for short‐wave infrared radiances (SWIR), were tested within a data assimilation framework.

All‐sky assimilation impacts of the Tomorrow.io microwave sounder constellation on global weather forecasts

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Key Findings: An assimilation methodology is established for the Tomorrow.io microwave sounder (TMS) flying on CubeSats in sun‐synchronous and inclined orbits, and in all cloud scenes. The TMS has a significant impact on weather forecast lead times up to 3 days in the Tropics in a research‐quality numerical weather prediction setting, and yields water ...

Operational all‐sky assimilation of geostationary infrared water‐vapour channels in the regional ICON‐D2 model with an ensemble Kalman filter

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Though many studies have shown potential benefit in assimilating all‐sky infrared radiances from geostationary satellites, at numerical weather prediction centres it is still common practice to assimilate clear‐sky radiances. We present the operationalization of the all‐sky assimilation of the spinning enhanced visible and infrared imager (SEVIRI ...

Ultrabroadband Spacetime Nanoscopy of Terahertz Polaritons in a van der Waals Cavity

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This work introduces SYnchrotron SpaceTimE Mapping (SYSTEM), which captures real‐time evolution of polariton wave packets with ∼10 nm spatial and sub‐100 fs temporal resolution across an ultrabroadband 5 to 50 THz range. Here, SYSTEM directly visualizes the creation, interference, and decay of multiple high‐quality Fabry‐Pérot phonon polariton cavity ...

Impact of Device Architecture on Proton Detection Efficiency in 2D Perovskite Thick Film Detectors

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This work shows the role of device architecture in MeV proton detection with 2D perovskite thick (> 1 µm) films. A direct comparison between planar and stacked devices demonstrates that the stacked geometry achieves superior response by enabling more efficient charge collection and better exploitation of the active layer volume, ensuring stable and ...

Recyclable Printed Liquid Metal Composite for Underwater Stretchable Electronics

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 5, Issue 5, May 2025.
This work presents a multifunctional liquid metal (LM) microdroplet‐based composite with a custom‐designed block copolymer as the matrix, optimized for printing. The composite exhibits high conductivity, stretchability, durability in dry and aqueous environments, and recyclability of LM using green solvents. These properties highlight its potential for
