Automated control for investigation of the insufflation-ventilation interaction in experimental laparoscopy.

open access: goldPLoS ONE, 2023
In laparoscopic surgery the abdominal cavity is insufflated with pressurized carbon dioxide gas to create workspace. This pressure is exerted through the diaphragm onto the lungs, competing with ventilation and hampering it.

Optimization of carbon dioxide insufflation strategies in minimally invasive cardiac surgery: the efficacy of continuous insufflation protocols with left ventricular venting [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Medical Research
Objectives Although CO₂ insufflation play an established role in open-heart surgery, its optimal application in minimally invasive cardiac procedures remains unclear.

Surgical field visualization and feasibility of accessory lung lobectomy using a pretied ligature loop via single incision thoracoscopy in canine cadavers [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
IntroductionThoracoscopic surgery is a widely accepted minimally invasive technique in veterinary medicine. However, its application in small dogs is limited by the narrow thoracic space, difficulty accessing midline structures, and the requirement for ...

Surgical workspace in porcine thoracoscopy with two-lung ventilation. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE
In neonatal and pediatric thoracoscopy, two-lung ventilation is often used due to the size constraints of double-lumen tubes or selective bronchial blockers.

Safety and ease of awake fiberoptic intubation with use of oxygen insufflation versus suction to clear secretions during procedure

open access: yesJournal of Anaesthesiology Clinical Pharmacology, 2022
Background and Aims: During awake fiberoptic intubation (AFOI), clearing secretions is usually done by suctioning. The study objectives were to assess the safety of AFOI with the use of oxygen insufflation versus suction to clear secretions from the ...

Effectiveness of Face mask only oxygenation and apnoeic oxygenation in addition to face mask in sustaining PaO2 during rapid sequence induction - A randomized control trial

open access: yesJournal of Anaesthesiology Clinical Pharmacology, 2023
Background and Aims: Apnoeic oxygenation, although useful during elective intubations, has not shown consistent beneficial results during emergency intubations in critically ill patients.
