A new electroscope has been designed from the conventional Haslinger tubes. The new rigid scope combines the advantage of air insufflation in the flexible system with the therapeutic possibilities of the rigid tubes and is trustworthy in the following esophageal procedures: a) finding entrance of severe strictures; b) introducing nasogastric feeding ...

HISTORY OF PULMONARY INSUFFLATION AS APPLIED TO THE SURGERY OF THE CHEST. It is difficult, if not impossible, to ascertain to whom belongs the credit of first suggesting the value of pulmonary insufflation in thoracic surgery. It is probable that the same thought occurred to many observers who were interested in the same problem simultaneously.

Benchtop evaluation of pressure barrier insufflator and standard insufflator systems
Surgical Endoscopy, 2012Previous experimental research has reported minimal differences in pressure maintenance between different versions of standard insufflators (SI). However, a recent report identified potential clinical benefits with a valveless pressure barrier insufflator (PBI).

Transintervertebral Retroperitoneal Gas Insufflation
Radiology, 1958A technic for lumbar perirenal gas insufflation was presented by Rosen-stein (4) and Carelli and Sordelli (1) in 1921. In 1950, Ruiz Rivas (3) introduced his method of retroperitoneal gas insufflation by the presacral route. More recently Betoulieres et al. (2) have mentioned the introduction of the gaseous medium into the subpubic space. The presacral

Operative laparoscopy needs a space to be made inside the abdominal cavity. This can only be achieved by suspension or by positive pressure. The endoscopic insufflator makes it possible to create this positive pressure, and does indeed enable the operating space to remain open.
