CO2 vs. air insufflation in endoscopic ultrasonography: a prospective study

open access: yesEndoscopy International Open, 2019
Background and study aims Carbon dioxide (CO2) is being increasingly used for insufflation during endoscopy for safety and better tolerance. The role of CO2 during endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) has not been studied yet. Our main aim was to compare the

Pharmacological treatment strategies to manage precipitated withdrawal following the administration of buprenorphine in opioid use disorder: A systematic review

open access: yesAddiction, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and aims There has been limited evidence synthesis examining the treatment of buprenorphine precipitated opioid withdrawal (BPOW). We aimed to conduct the first systematic review to assess the clinical utility of any pharmacological intervention in the management of BPOW.

Carbon dioxide insufflation technique as a potential cause a hemodynamic collapse in a patient without cardiovascular risk factors: A case report

open access: yesJCA Advances
Intrathoracic carbon dioxide (CO₂) insufflation improves surgical field visibility during robot-assisted thoracoscopic surgery but can induce hemodynamic instability.

Optimal carbon dioxide insufflation pressure during robot-assisted thyroidectomy in patients with various benign and malignant thyroid diseases

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2012
Background Currently, data are not available concerning a safe insufflation pressure that provides a proper view of the surgical field without adverse metabolic and hemodynamic changes in humans undergoing the robot-assisted thyroidectomy bilateral ...

Immune cell populations and cytokine production in spleen and mesenteric lymph nodes after laparoscopic surgery versus conventional laparotomy in mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Purpose: There is evidence that open as well as minimally invasive abdominal surgery impair post-operative innate and acquired immune function. To compare the impact of these approaches as well as the one of different peritoneal gas exposures on immune ...

Green Endoscopy: Can Filtered Water Use in Endoscopy Be a Safe, Economical Alternative Which Promotes Sustainable Healthcare?

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Sustainable healthcare is an evolving paradigm of growing importance that focuses on reducing environmental impact whilst maintaining quality patient care. Currently, evidence is lacking to support the use of sterile water in diagnostic colonoscopy resulting in a growing shift towards use of tap water and appropriate recycling of ...

Experimental Pneumonia by Intrabronchial Insufflation [PDF]

open access: yesThe American Journal of the Medical Sciences, 1912
The numerous attempts made in the last twenty-five years to reproduce lobar pneumonia in animals practically failed in all instances. By intrabronchial insufflation of pure cultures of pneumococcus in dogs, we produced experimental pneumonia successively in forty-two cases, with a mortality of at least 16 per cent.

Single‐Incision Anterolateral Thoracotomy for LVAD Implantation: A Novel Minimally Invasive Approach

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
A novel single‐incision anterolateral thoracotomy technique enables complete HeartMate 3 implantation without sternotomy, minimizing surgical trauma and accelerating recovery. This minimally invasive approach is feasible, safe, and may represent a new standard in advanced heart failure surgery.
