Summary A 9‐year‐old male castrated Standardbred was presented for evaluation of a comminuted right front first phalanx fracture. On initial clinical examination, mild haemoconcentration and increased vital parameters were noted. After overnight hospitalisation, the horse underwent general anaesthesia for surgical fracture repair.

CO2 vs. air insufflation in endoscopic ultrasonography: a prospective study
Background and study aims Carbon dioxide (CO2) is being increasingly used for insufflation during endoscopy for safety and better tolerance. The role of CO2 during endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) has not been studied yet. Our main aim was to compare the

Immune cell populations and cytokine production in spleen and mesenteric lymph nodes after laparoscopic surgery versus conventional laparotomy in mice [PDF]
Purpose: There is evidence that open as well as minimally invasive abdominal surgery impair post-operative innate and acquired immune function. To compare the impact of these approaches as well as the one of different peritoneal gas exposures on immune ...

Summary In this short case series, we report the outcome of four mares undergoing mesometrial imbrication (uteropexy) using barbed suture and an automated laparoscopic suturing device. Medical records of four mares infertile because of delayed uterine clearance (DUC) that underwent laparoscopic mesometrial imbrication to elevate a vertically positioned

Abstract Background Pregabalin reduces excitatory neurotransmitter release and is used for anxiolysis in humans, cats, and horses. The effects of pregabalin on equine recovery following isoflurane anaesthesia are unknown. Objectives To determine if pre‐anaesthetic oral pregabalin influences recovery time and/or quality from isoflurane anaesthesia in ...

Invasive monitoring of the clinical effects of high intra-abdominal pressure for insertion of the first trocar. [PDF]
Background: To analyze the effects of transitory, high intra-abdominal pressure on clinical, hemodynamic, blood gas and metabolic parameters. Methods: Sixty-seven laparoscopic patients were divided into groups P12 (n = 30, maximum ...
