Fire resistance test of transformers filled with natural ester insulating liquid

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2018
Natural ester fluids, as a renewable, biodegradable liquid dielectric, its flash point is above 300°C, and the burning point exceeds 330°C, high flash point liquids known as ‘less flammable’ liquids.

Multispectral UV Imaging on Capacitive CMOS Arrays Enabled by Solution‐Processed Metal‐Oxide Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ultraviolet (UV) imagers are important for a variety of applications but often require dedicated semiconductor process flows. Here, a versatile capacitive CMOS platform is transformed into a visible‐blind, multispectral UV imager through post‐CMOS functionalization with solution‐processed metal‐oxide nanoparticles. The UV‐induced photodielectric effect

Photo‐Gated Corona Microfluidics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Photo‐gated corona microfluidics decouples optical programming from electric‐field actuation to enable reconfigurable manipulation on open, electrode‐pattern‐free surfaces. Near‐infrared irradiation locally melts paraffin, creating a reversible charge‐relaxation pathway that reconstructs the electric field.

Soybean oil mixed with methyl soyate to form a fluidity enhanced natural ester insulating oil

open access: yesIndustrial Crops and Products
As a potential alternative to mineral oils because of their outstanding environmental performance, natural ester insulating oils have poor oxidizing and flow properties. This defect has drawn widespread attention from scholars.

Drop‐Location‐Insensitive Droplet‐Based Electricity Generator Using Polydimethylsiloxane Slippery Covalently Attached Liquid Coatings

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Drop‐location sensitivity remains a key barrier to practical droplet‐based electricity generators (DEGs). Here, a polydimethylsiloxane slippery covalently attached liquid (PDMS‐SCAL)‐coated interface promotes droplet sliding instead of splitting or bouncing, allowing stable electricity generation from randomly falling raindrops. The resulting PDMS‐SCAL‐

Electric field distribution characteristics of typical insulation structures in aramid–synthetic ester oil transformers [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Advances
Both aramid paper and synthetic ester oil have high heat resistance levels. Using them as the main insulating materials for transformers is expected to improve the heat resistance level of oil-immersed transformers.

Improved Direct Ink Writing of Liquid Metal Foams via Liquid Additives

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
The ability to pattern liquid metal is useful for making soft electrical and thermal devices. Dispensing liquid metal from a nozzle naturally results in the formation of spheroidal droplets, making direct‐write printing challenging. Liquid metal foams containing pockets of air can extrude as filaments, albeit inconsistently.

Thermal behavior of a buoyancy-driven oil-immersed transformer and coolant performance assessment

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
The dependable operation and effective thermal management of transformers are essential to power-system stability. To tackle this, a numerical model for the buoyancy-driven oil-immersed transformer cooling system is established, focusing on the heat ...
