First‐mode of negative streamers: Inception at liquid/solid interfaces

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2021
An experimental study of the inception of the first‐mode negative streamer at liquid/solid interfaces is presented in this article. The study is performed with a point‐plane configuration under square high voltage pulses.

Quantum Phase Transitions and the Hidden Order in a Two-Chain Extended Boson Hubbard Model at Half-Odd-Integer Fillings

open access: yes, 2007
We study the phase diagram of two weakly coupled one-dimensional dipolar boson chains at half-odd-integer fillings. We find that the system contains a rich phase diagram. Four different phases are found.

Photoswitching Conduction in Framework Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This mini‐review summarizes recent advances in state‐of‐the‐art proton and electron conduction in framework materials that can be remotely and reversibly switched on and off by light. It discusses the various photoswitching conduction mechanisms and the strategies employed to enhance photoswitched conductivity.

Effect of Doublon-Holon Binding on Mott transition---Variational Monte Carlo Study of Two-Dimensional Bose Hubbard Models

open access: yes, 2011
To understand the mechanism of Mott transitions in case of no magnetic influence, superfluid-insulator (Mott) transitions in the S=0 Bose Hubbard model at unit filling are studied on the square and triangular lattices, using a variational Monte Carlo ...

Mott-Hubbard transition in infinite dimensions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We analyze the unanalytical structure of metal-insulator transition (MIT) in infinite dimensions. By introducing a simple transformation into the dynamical mean-field equation of Hubbard model, a multiple-valued structure in Green's function and other ...

Magnetic Control of Chiral Hybridized Phonon Magnetic Moments in Ferrimagnets Fe2‐xZnxMo3O8

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Helicity‐resolved magneto‐Raman spectroscopy reveals magnetic control of chiral phonon magnetic moments in polar ferrimagnet (ZnxFe2−xMo3O₈). Large spontaneous zero‐field phonon splittings, selective phonon–magnon coupling, and asymmetric Zeeman responses demonstrate that phonon chirality is governed by magnon‐phonon coupling and magnetization.

Thermal stability improvement of polysiloxane-grafted insulating paper cellulose in micro-water environment

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
In order to improve the thermal stability of insulation paper cellulose in micro-water environment, the molecular simulation was used to compare and analyze the thermal stability of polysiloxane-grafted cellulose with 3% micro-water content in the ...

Nanothermometry in Living Cells: Physical Limits, Conceptual and Material Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Heat and temperature are fundamental to life. When nanothermometers began probing regions as small as a living cell, they triggered controversial claims of large intracellular temperature gradients. We review physical constraints energy‐conservation, entropy production, thermodynamic fluctuations, and molecular dynamics.

Quantitative Analysis of Ageing Condition of Insulating Paper Using Infrared Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2016
Transformers are very expensive apparatuses and are vital to make the whole power system run normally. The failures in such apparatuses could leave them out of service, causing severe economic losses.
