Insulation coordination in distribution liveline maintenance
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1988Insulation coordination principles are applied to assess the expected performance of distribution liveline maintenance equipment. Rubber gloves are used as an example. Breakdown probability distributions for Class II, III, and IV gloves are given for AC and slow-front surge voltages.

HBSE and insulation coordination
2015 IEEE Symposium on Product Compliance Engineering (ISPCE), 2015Transient overvoltages are normal. Insulation must withstand not only the functional voltage, but also the transient overvoltages. A scheme called “insulation coordination” has been instituted by the International Electrical Commission to promulgate and standardize on coordinating the transient overvoltage suppression with insulation electric strength.

Insulation coordination of MV power cables
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1999In medium voltage power cables, the concept of cost/reliability has been current since the end of the 1980s when the Brazilian Standards introduced ethylene-propylene-rubber (EPR) insulated cables, with different thicknesses of insulation for conventional cables and for those with blocked conductors or with water tightness constructions.

Insulation Coordination of UHV Substations
2017With the high voltage level and large transmission capacity, the UHV power grid has a very important position in the system. Therefore, compared to the power grid of low voltage levels, the insulation coordination of the UHV power grid has its particularity.

Coordination of insulation as a design problem
Journal of the A.I.E.E., 1930The factors having influence on insulation design of transmission line and station are briefly reviewed, and it is pointed out that the progress of the art does not yet allow of close design of the insulation structure for insulation strength. The prominent part played by the lightning arrester is stressed, and the fact that it has a marked effect on ...

Insulation Coordination in Gas Insulated Switchgear Against Lightning Overvoltages
1991This paper describes improved models for lightning overvoltage analysis and example results by the models. Reduction of lightning impulse withstand levels for 500 and 275kV gas insulated switchgear substations is recomended. Newly developed high performance metal oxide surge arresters are also presented.

Factors influencing the insulation coordination of transformers
Electrical Engineering, 1933IN THE early days of the electrical industry, surges were relatively mysterious as to their origin, magnitude, and behavior. The ordinary factory tests now required by the A.I.E.E. rules were the reflection of experience and judgment rather than the analysis which has been made possible in the last few years.

Coordination of line and transformer insulation
Electrical Engineering, 1932The coordination of transformer insulation with line insulation recently has been discussed widely, and sentiment has changed gradually in favor of the use of an air-gap for purposes of coordination as against the practise of reducing the line insulation near the substation.

Insulation Coordination of UHVDC Converter Station
2017For UHVDC transmission system, enhancing overvoltage limitation and more sophisticated insulation coordination are important in reducing the insulation level of equipment and controlling the cost of the whole project. This chapter gives a detailed discussion on the following contents: the insulation coordination of the UHVDC converter station ...
