The binding and activation of the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor by exendin-4 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background and purpose Exendin-4 (EX4) has the same physiological properties as glucagon-like peptide-1 (7-36)amide (GLP-1). EX4 has 50% identity with GLP-1, with an extra nine amino acids at its C-terminus.

Activation of ERBB4 Pathway Inhibits Pathological Transdifferentiation of Lung Epithelial Progenitors into CD66c+ Basal Cells in Severe Lung Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In fibrotic distal lung regions, CD66c+ basal cells emerge as a pathological state. Using human distal lung organoids, this study identifies CD66c+ basal cells as a pro‐fibrotic state arising through transdifferentiation from secretory, AT2, and basal cells.

Sex‐Specific Regulation of Glycemic Homeostasis by Theabrownin from Pu‐erh Tea

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pu‐erh tea's key component, theabrownin (TB), lowers blood glucose in a sex‐specific manner. In females, estrogen boosts intestinal MUC2 production, which dramatically enhances TB's ability to inhibit the carbohydrate‐digesting enzyme α‐glucosidase.

Icariin Enhances the Enzymatic Activity of N‐acetylgalactosaminidase to Augment Akkermansia Abundance in Gut Microbiota for Improved PD‐1 Blockade Efficacy in Tumor Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Icariin promoted the growth of Akk by enhancing the activity of N‐acetylgalactosaminidase (Amuc_0920), which enhanced mucin utilization and provided a favorable nutrient environment for bacterial growth. This icariin‐mediated enrichment of Akk further reshaped the tumor microenvironment and promoted CD8+ T cell infiltration, ultimately synergizing with

Exploring Vitamin D Deficiency and IGF Axis Dynamics in Colorectal Adenomas

open access: yesBiomedicines
(1) Colorectal cancer is a major cause of cancer-related death, with colorectal adenomas (CRAs) serving as precursors. Identifying risk factors such as vitamin D deficiency and the insulin-like growth factor (IGF) axis is crucial for prevention. (2) This

Tumor‐Derived Alpha‐1 Antitrypsin Promotes Liver Metastasis of Colorectal Cancer Through the Neutrophil Extracellular Traps–CCDC25 Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Liver metastasis is a leading cause of mortality in colorectal cancer (CRC), where the inflammatory tumor microenvironment, specifically neutrophil infiltration, significantly promotes metastatic colonization. This study reveals a pro‐metastatic role for alpha‐1 antitrypsin (A1AT) in CRC liver metastasis via a dual mechanism involving ...

A tissue-engineered human psoriatic skin model: targeting inflammation and glucose metabolism dysregulation in psoriasis using microneedle patches

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences
Psoriasis, an inflammatory skin disease, affects nearly 43 million individuals globally, and patients are 59% more likely to have type 2 diabetes. In this study, tissue-engineered psoriatic human skin substitutes were produced using keratinocytes and ...
