Insulin‐like growth factor binding protein‐1 at mouse neuromuscular synapses
Synapse, 1994AbstractThe insulin‐like growth factor (IGF) signaling system includes the growth factors and their cell surface receptors, along with circulating IGF binding proteins (IGFBPs) that may alter and modulate the action of these neurotrophic hormones. These IGFBPs, along with IGFs and receptors, have been detected in various tissues including the brain. In

Abstract IGF-I and -II play an important role in regulating bone formation. Bone marrow stromal cells, particularly those with osteoblast-like features, may act in concert with osteoblasts to increase IGF-I and -II levels in the bone microenvironment. Local bioavailability of IGFs, however, is modulated by IGF binding proteins (IGFBPs). We have

Regulation of Insulin-Like Growth Factor–Binding Protein-1 in Rat Serum
Diabetes, 1994Previous studies support a role for insulin-like growth factor–binding protein-1 (IGFBP-1) in modulating insulin-like growth factor (IGF) availability for glucose homeostasis. We have developed a radioimmunoassay (RIA) for rat IGFBP-1 (rIGFBP-1) and have examined the regulation of circulating levels by nutritional and hormonal status.

Growth hormone suppression of insulin-like growth factor binding protein-1 promoter activity
Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, 1999Hepatic transcription of insulin-like growth factor binding protein-1 (IGFBP-1) is rapidly downregulated by growth hormone (GH) which is also known to induce expression of c-fos and c-jun. Co-expression of c-fos or c-jun in rat hepatocytes, individually or together, suppresses IGFBP-1 promoter activity by approximately 60%.

To determine whether second-trimester serum concentrations of insulin, insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I), and insulin-like growth factor binding protein-1 (IGFBP-1) were altered in women before they developed clinical signs of preeclampsia.A nested case-control study used serum obtained during second-trimester pregnancies from 12 women who developed
