Blockchain‐Empowered H‐CPS Architecture for Smart Agriculture
This article reviews the current system architectures for smart agriculture and proposes a blockchain‐empowered hierarchical cyber‐physical system (H‐CPS) framework. It discusses the challenges and outlines future research directions, including the use of semantic blockchain to handle complex data and models.

King and Cochrane: The technological treadmill and racial inequity in US agriculture
Abstract Between 1920 and 1969, the number of Black farmers in the US decreased from 14% of all operators to 4%. Using Martin Luther King Jr.'s critique of agricultural policy and Willard Cochrane's theory of the technological treadmill, we explore how racial discrimination was linked to policies that led to structural change in US agriculture.

Abstract Longitudinal data on Iowa landowner–operator contracts are used to examine how the mean, variance, and skewness of expected farmland returns affected contract terms from 2008 to 2019. To control for unobserved operator risk preferences and ability as a fixed effect, the sample includes operators with multiple contracts.
