Rounding Non-integer Weights in Bootstrapping Non-iid Samples: Actual Problem or Harmless Practice?

open access: yes, 2014
The effect of the practice of rounding non-integer weights in bootstrapping complex samples from finite populations is investigated by means of an extended simulation study. The extent to which rounding can interfere with basic Bootstrap principles as well as with the formal properties of the final Bootstrap estimates are evaluated.

A Mixed Integer Linear Programming Approach to Markov Chain Bootstrapping

open access: yes, 2012
Bootstrapping time series is one of the most acknowledged tools to make forecasts and study the statistical properties of an evolutive phenomenon. The idea underlying this procedure is to replicate the phenomenon on the basis of an observed sample. One of the most important classes of bootstrap procedures is based on the assumption that the sampled ...

Can statistical learning bootstrap the integers?

Cognition, 2013
This paper examines Piantadosi, Tenenbaum, and Goodman's (2012) model for how children learn the relation between number words ("one" through "ten") and cardinalities (sizes of sets with one through ten elements). This model shows how statistical learning can induce this relation, reorganizing its procedures as it does so in roughly the way children do.

Faster Bootstrapping of FHE over the Integers

2020
In FHE over the integers, decryption function is simplified by sparse subset subset sum problem (SSSP) assumption, which is introduced by Dijk et al. (Eurocrypt 2010), so that bootstrapping can be achieved successfully. Later, Nuida and Kurowasa (Eurocrypt 2015) proposed an advanced method of which the degree is very low and the message space is non ...

Bootstrapping Added Partial Search Strategy for GNSS Integer Ambiguity Resolution

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
Integer least square estimator is known to be optimal in GNSS ambiguity resolution. But it relays on a search in the whole ambiguity space which decreases the computational efficiency. A partial search strategy is proposed in this contribution. The new search is limited in an ambiguity space subset defined by the bootstrapping solution; the search-and ...

Bootstrapping Fully Homomorphic Encryption over the Integers in Less than One Second

2021
One can bootstrap LWE-based fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) schemes in less than one second, but bootstrapping AGCD-based FHE schemes, also known as FHE over the integers, is still very slow. In this work we propose a fast bootstrapping method for FHE over the integers, closing thus this gap between these two types of schemes.
