An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Topics on the Ratliff-Rush Closure of an Ideal

open access: yesپژوهش‌های ریاضی, 2019
Introduction Let  be a Noetherian ring with unity and    be a regular ideal of , that is,  contains a nonzerodivisor. Let . Then . The :union: of this family, , is an interesting ideal first studied by Ratliff and Rush in [15].

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Plant Stomata: An Unrealized Possibility in Plant Defense against Invading Pathogens and Stress Tolerance

open access: yesPlants, 2023
Stomata are crucial structures in plants that play a primary role in the infection process during a pathogen’s attack, as they act as points of access for invading pathogens to enter host tissues. Recent evidence has revealed that stomata are integral to

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Certain properties for a class of analytic functions associated with hypergeometric functions

open access: yesJournal of Numerical Analysis and Approximation Theory, 2014
In this particular paper, we investigate coefficient inequalities, closure theorems, convolution properties for the functions belonging to the class \( \mathcal{S}^{m,r,s}_{\lambda_1,\lambda_2}(\eta)\).

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Differential Simplicity and Complete Integral Closure. [PDF]

open access: yesPacific Journal of Mathematics, 1971
Let gf be any set of derivations of R. Seidenberg has shown that the conductor C = {x e R \ xRf c R) is a £^-ideal of R, so that when R is ^-simple and C Φ 0, then R = Rf. We investigate here the situation when C — 0. The first observation that one must make is that it is no longer true that R = Rf when R is differentiably simple, even when R is ...
