A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Concentrated Couple in a Plane and in a Half-Plane in the Framework of Fractional Nonlocal Elasticity

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In nonlocal elasticity, the constitutive equation for the stress tensor is written in an integral form, with the weight function, referred to as the nonlocality kernel, often being the Green’s function for the partial differential equation. In this paper,

On quadruple integral equations involving trigonometric kernels

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1997
A general technique is developed for the solution of quadruple integral equations involving trigonometric kernels. Four such sets are solved explicitly. Application is made to the problem of three-collinear cracks in linear plane elasticity.

Cosine Integral Transform Method for Solving the Westergaard Problem in Elasticity of the Half-Space [PDF]

open access: yesCivil Engineering Infrastructures Journal, 2020
The cosine integral transform method is applied to find the expressions for spatial variations of displacements and stresses in the Westergaard continuum under vertical concentrated loading, and distributed loadings acting over lines and geometric areas ...

On direct numerical treatment of hypersingular integral equations arising in mechanics and acoustics

open access: yes, 2003
In this paper we present a treatment of hypersingular integral equations, which have relevant applications in many problems of wave dynamics, elasticity and fluid mechanics with mixed boundary conditions.

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

On the application of the partition of unity method for nonlocal response of low-dimensional structures

open access: yesJournal of the Mechanical Behavior of Materials, 2014
The main objectives of the paper are to (1) present an overview of nonlocal integral elasticity and Aifantis gradient elasticity theory and (2) discuss the application of partition of unity methods to study the response of low-dimensional structures.

Elasticity of factorizations in integral domains

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Algebra, 1992
Let \(R\) be an integral domain with quotient field \(K\). If \(R\) is a UFD, then any two factorization of a nonzero nonunit of \(R\) into the product of irreducible elements have the same length. Of course, this is not true for an arbitrary atomic integral domain (an integral domain \(R\) is atomic if each nonzero nonunit is the product of ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.
