Identification of a heterogeneous orthotropic conductivity in a rectangular domain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This paper investigates the problem of identifying a heterogeneous transient orthotropic thermal conductivity in a two-dimensional rectangular domain using initial and Dirichlet boundary conditions and fluxes as overdetermination conditions.

Spin Tunneling in Magnetic Molecules: Quasisingular Perturbations and Discontinuous SU(2) Instantons

open access: yes, 2002
Spin coherent state path integrals with discontinuous semiclassical paths are investigated with special reference to a realistic model for the magnetic degrees of freedom in the Fe8 molecular solid.

Determination of a time-dependent heat source under not strengthened regular boundary and integral overdetermination conditions

open access: yesFilomat, 2018
We investigate an inverse problem of finding a time-dependent heat source in a parabolic equation with nonlocal boundary and integral overdetermination conditions. The boundary conditions of this problem are regular but not strengthened regular. The principal difference of this problem is: the system of eigenfunctions is not complete.

Social construction and meta‐ground

open access: yesPhilosophy and Phenomenological Research, Volume 111, Issue 3, Page 954-973, November 2025.
Abstract The notion of social construction plays an important role in many areas of social philosophy, including the philosophy of gender and sex, the philosophy of race, and the philosophy of disability. Yet it is far from clear how this notion is to be understood.

THE FINANCIAL ACTIVIST: Shareholding and the Inconvenience of Collective Ownership

open access: yesCultural Anthropology, Volume 40, Issue 4, Page 672-696, November 2025.
ABSTRACT With the increasing financialization of the global economy, social movements and activists increasingly target financial actors to enact social change through the framework of shareholder‐led corporate governance. Where finance penetrates individual households, activists harness the widespread “collective ownership” of corporations through ...

Accelerated Aging, Debilitation, Slow Death, and the Multiple Temporalities of Aging Incarcerated Persons: A Philip K. Dickian Science Fiction Examination

open access: yesNursing Inquiry, Volume 32, Issue 4, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Prisons are debilitating and disorienting spaces. Temporal realities themselves are altered from those of the outside world. This paper builds upon a study of prison staff work with aging incarcerated persons in Canadian federal penitentiaries, wherein the prison environment itself contributes to accelerated aging and slow death ...

Shape deformation analysis from the optimal control viewpoint [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A crucial problem in shape deformation analysis is to determine a deformation of a given shape into another one, which is optimal for a certain cost. It has a number of applications in particular in medical imaging.

Recovery of the singularities of a potential from backscattering data in general dimension

open access: yes, 2019
We prove that in dimension $n\ge 2$ the main singularities of a complex potential $q$ having a certain a priori regularity are contained in the Born approximation $q_{B}$ constructed from backscattering data. This is archived using a new explicit formula

Initial value representation for the SU(n) semiclassical propagator

open access: yes, 2011
The semiclassical propagator in the representation of SU(n) coherent states is characterized by isolated classical trajectories subjected to boundary conditions in a doubled phase space.
