A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Low-Voltage Distribution Network Loss-Reduction Method Based on Load-Timing Characteristics and Adjustment Capabilities

open access: yesEnergies
The primary contributors to elevated line losses in low-voltage distribution networks are three-phase load imbalances and variations in load peak–valley differentials.

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Synergistic Effects of Fly Ash and Oyster Shell Powder in Ternary Low-Carbon Cementitious Materials: Macro–Micro Experimental Studies and Life Cycle Evaluation

open access: yesApplied Sciences
As a result of global urbanization, the construction industry has mainly emitted CO2 from ordinary Portland cement (OPC). Partially replacing cement with supplementary cementitious materials is a widely studied approach for reducing emissions.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Optimized MMC passive impedance shaping method for high frequency oscillation suppression

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
Recent years, there have been several high-frequency oscillation events in modular multilevel converter (MMC) based DC current projects. Considering the wideband oscillation characteristics of this issue, passive MMC impedance shaping methods are ...
