SaferCross: Enhancing Pedestrian Safety Using Embedded Sensors of Smartphone [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The number of pedestrian accidents continues to keep climbing. Distraction from smartphone is one of the biggest causes for pedestrian fatalities. In this paper, we develop SaferCross, a mobile system based on the embedded sensors of smartphone to ...

Linear energy-preserving integrators for Poisson systems [PDF]

open access: yesBIT Numerical Mathematics, 2011
The authors introduce a new class of energy conserving integrators in order to solve initial value problems for non-canonical Hamiltonian systems. In contrast to similar integrators, these are invariant to linear transformations. They also conserve quadratic Casimir functions and they are of arbitrarily order of accuracy.

Selective Recovery of Copper from Industrial Sludge by Integrated Sulfuric Leaching and Electrodeposition

open access: yesMetals, 2020
The metal-containing sludge generated from the printed circuit boards (PCBs) manufacturing has been recycled as a secondary resource of copper (Cu) rather than being treated as a hazardous solid waste.

Evaluation of the early strength of limestone-slag-cement ternary composite mortar improved by aluminum sulfate

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
Limestone-slag-Portland cement mixtures have a low carbon footprint but have low early compressive strength. This study proposes a method to improve the early strength of ternary mixture mortar using aluminum sulfate, evaluates its effectiveness, and ...

Recycled glass powder for enhanced sustainability of limestone calcined clay cement (LC3) mixtures: mechanical properties, hydration, and microstructural analysis

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
The large quantities of nondegradable waste glass led to landfill overflow, causing severe environmental harm. Measures need to be taken to reduce the environmental problems associated with waste glass.

Energy-Preserving Integrators Applied to Nonholonomic Systems [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nonlinear Science, 2019
We introduce energy-preserving integrators for nonholonomic mechanical systems. We will see that the nonholonomic dynamics is completely determined by a triple $({\mathcal D}^*, Π, \mathcal{H})$, where ${\mathcal D}^*$ is the dual of the vector bundle determined by the nonholonomic constraints, $Π$ is an almost-Poisson bracket (the nonholonomic bracket)
