Design of Advanced Integrated Reactor Protection System for Commercial Fast Breeder Reactor

open access: yesEngineering Management Research, 2012
Shutdown systems are one of the most important one for the safety of the reactor core. In case of any abnormal event or any parameter going abnormal or otherwise, it trips the reactor. Hence this system should be highly reliable. The reliability of the Present shutdown system could not be improved beyond a certain limit, due to many interconnections ...

Electro‐Steric Ion Confinement in Polyelectrolyte Networks for Robust Nonvolatile Artificial Synapse

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polyelectrolyte stoichiometry governs ion transport and retention in electrolyte‐gated synaptic transistors. A PSS‐rich network creates electro‐steric ion confinement that suppresses ion back‐diffusion and stabilizes channel doping, enabling robust nonvolatile synaptic memory, linear weight updates, and low‐energy operation.

Ultrasmall High‐Entropy Materials: Nanoscale Effects, Synthesis, and Mechanistic Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review article focuses on sub‐10 nm high‐entropy materials that combine nanoscale design with complex compositions for next‐generation applications. ABSTRACT Ultrasmall high‐entropy nanomaterials (USHENMs, <10 nm) merge multicomponent chemistry with size‐dependent effects, forming a distinct class of materials with unprecedented properties.

Behavior of actinides in the Integral Fast Reactor fuel cycle [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The Integral Fast Reactor (IFR) under development by Argonne National Laboratory uses metallic fuels instead of ceramics. This allows electrorefining of spent fuels and presents opportunities for recycling minor actinide elements. Four minor actinides ({sup 237}Np, {sup 240}Pu, {sup 241}Am, and {sup 243}Am) determine the waste storage requirements of ...

Dynamic simulation and control system for chemical looping combustion

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2020
Chemical looping combustion (CLC) is a technique for separating carbon dioxide from flue gas. It consists of two main processes: a fuel reactor and an air reactor. In the fuel reactor, fuel reacts with solid metal oxide particles to produce heat, CO2 and

Application of Ibuprofen Sodium Dihydrate for Thermochemical Energy Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ibuprofen sodium dihydrate is introduced as a durable organic salt hydrate for low‐temperature thermochemical energy storage, operating within 60°C–110°C with high energy density. At the material level, it delivers ∼99.9% cycling efficiency over 150 cycles without deliquescence, enabled by a dual energy‐storage mechanism coupling dehydration and phase ...
