Host‐specific and deterministic microbiome assembly in major coleopteran stored‐grain pests
Dual DNA‐ and RNA‐based sequencing profiled the microbiomes of five major coleopteran stored‐grain pests and their wheat flour substrate. The microbiomes differed significantly among hosts and from flour, yet 11 core bacterial and 9 core fungal taxa were shared across hosts. RNA data revealed host‐specific active microbiota.

Climate change demands accelerated plant adaptation and de novo domestication. Yet current enviromics focuses disproportionately on external environments, neglecting internal dynamics—gene expression, metabolic flux, and signal transduction—within predictive envirotyping frameworks.

Bio‐inspired nanophotonics: Structural color, chirality, and resonance metasurfaces
A butterfly‐wing‐inspired anisotropic plasmonic flatband resonant metasurface. Insets, photo of the butterfly, Sasakia charonda, and the SEM image of its wing scale (above); the SEM image of the metasurface (below). Abstract The dazzling colors of butterfly wings and hummingbird feathers are not painted with pigments, but crafted by nature's invisible ...

The development, regulation and use of biopesticides for integrated pest management [PDF]
Over the past 50 years, crop protection has relied heavily on synthetic chemical pesticides, but their availability is now declining as a result of new legislation and the evolution of resistance in pest populations.

International Journal of Tropical Insect Science, 1994The struggle to control populations of organisms that feed on agricultural crops, livestock, and directly on humans is as old as recorded history, and will continue into the perceivable future. Only 30 years ago, the availability of relatively cheap and highly effective synthetic organic pesticides was thought to be the ultimate solution to pest ...
