Subwavelength integrated photonics

Nature, 2018
In the late nineteenth century, Heinrich Hertz demonstrated that the electromagnetic properties of materials are intimately related to their structure at the subwavelength scale by using wire grids with centimetre spacing to manipulate metre-long radio waves.

Photonic Integrated Circuits

MRS Proceedings, 1989
AbstractRecent progress in InP-based photonic integrated circuits (PIC's) is reviewed, with an emphasis on the new level of design complexity and fabrication flexibility afforded by advances in metal-organic-vapor-phase-epitaxy(MOVPE) growth techniques.

Integrated microwave photonics [PDF]

open access: yesNature Photonics, 2019
Recent advances in photonic integration have propelled microwave photonic technologies to new heights. The ability to interface hybrid material platforms to enhance light–matter interactions has led to the development of ultra-small and high-bandwidth electro-optic modulators, low-noise frequency synthesizers and chip signal processors with orders-of ...

Reaching fiber-laser coherence in integrated photonics.

Optics Letters, 2021
We self-injection-lock a diode laser to a 1.41 m long, ultra-high Q integrated resonator. The hybrid integrated laser reaches a frequency noise floor of 0.006Hz2/Hz at 4 MHz offset, corresponding to a Lorentzian linewidth below 40 mHz-a record among ...

Ultrafast photonic intensity integrator

Optics Letters, 2009
A method for ultrafast photonic time-intensity integration of an arbitrary temporal waveform is, for the first time to our knowledge, proposed and demonstrated. The introduced intensity-integration concept is based on the superposition of mutually incoherent, continuously-time-delayed replicas of the optical intensity waveform to be processed.
