Indistinguishable photons from an artificial atom in silicon photonics [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications 15, 6920 (2024), 2022
Silicon is the ideal material for building electronic and photonic circuits at scale. Spin qubits and integrated photonic quantum technologies in silicon offer a promising path to scaling by leveraging advanced semiconductor manufacturing and integration capabilities.

2022 Roadmap on integrated quantum photonics

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Photonics, 2022
Abstract Integrated photonics will play a key role in quantum systems as they grow from few-qubit prototypes to tens of thousands of qubits. The underlying optical quantum technologies can only be realized through the integration of these components onto quantum photonic integrated circuits (QPICs) with accompanying electronics.

Tutorial: Programmable Integrated Photonics [PDF]

open access: yes2020 European Conference on Optical Communications (ECOC), 2020
Programmable photonic circuits are optical chips whose functionality can be (re)configured through electronics and software. This programmability enables new functionality, and opens the path to general-purpose photonic chips, similar to electronic FPGAs. This tutorial discusses the operational principles and technology stack for these chips.

Triggered single-photon generation and resonance fluorescence in ultra-low loss integrated photonic circuits [PDF]

open access: yesACS Photonics 11 (9), 3860-3869 (2024), 2022
A central requirement for photonic quantum information processing systems lies in the combination of nonclassical light sources and low-loss, phase-stable optical modes. While substantial progress has been made separately towards ultra-low loss, $\leq1$ dB/m, chip-scale photonic circuits and high brightness single-photon sources, integration of these ...

High-Q-factor Al [subscript 2]O[subscript 3] micro-trench cavities integrated with silicon nitride waveguides on silicon [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We report on the design and performance of high-Q integrated optical micro-trench cavities on silicon. The microcavities are co-integrated with silicon nitride bus waveguides and fabricated using wafer-scale silicon-photonics-compatible processing steps.

Monolithically integrated stretchable photonics [PDF]

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications, 2017
AbstractMechanically stretchable photonics provides a new geometric degree of freedom for photonic system design and foresees applications ranging from artificial skins to soft wearable electronics. Here we describe the design and experimental realization of the first single-mode stretchable photonic devices.

Non-invasive monitoring and control in silicon photonics by CMOS integrated electronics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
As photonics breaks away from today's device level toward large scale of integration and complex systems-on-a-chip, concepts like monitoring, control and stabilization of photonic integrated circuits emerge as new paradigms.

Deeply Etched Inner-Cavity Pit Reflector

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2017
A deeply etched pit reflector is presented in this paper. The pit is not depth sensitive and has a comparable reflection and loss to a slot. Moreover, a two-section 750 μm laser cavity based on the pits is demonstrated.
