Integrating E-Commerce and Data Mining: Architecture and Challenges [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We show that the e-commerce domain can provide all the right ingredients for successful data mining and claim that it is a killer domain for data mining.

Highly multiplexed digital PCR assay for simultaneous quantification of variant allele frequencies and copy number alterations of KRAS and GNAS in pancreatic cancer precursors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining melting curve analysis enhances the multiplexing capability of digital PCR. Here, we developed a 14‐plex assay to simultaneously measure single nucleotide mutations and amplifications of KRAS and GNAS, which are common driver genes in pancreatic cancer precursors. This assay accurately quantified variant allele frequencies in clinical samples

Comparing self‐reported race and genetic ancestry for identifying potential differentially methylated sites in endometrial cancer: insights from African ancestry proportions using machine learning models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Integrating ancestry, differential methylation analysis, and machine learning, we identified robust epigenetic signature genes (ESGs) and Core‐ESGs in Black and White women with endometrial cancer. Core‐ESGs (namely APOBEC1 and PLEKHG5) methylation levels were significantly associated with survival, with tumors from high African ancestry (THA) showing ...

A historical primer on consumer credit reporting systems: A lesson for EU policy makers? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This work investigates the cultural framework through the lens of history of consumer credit reporting in the lender-borrower relationship in order to inform European legislators when setting a future legal framework. It provides an historical primer of

A large‐scale retrospective study in metastatic breast cancer patients using circulating tumour DNA and machine learning to predict treatment outcome and progression‐free survival

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
There is an unmet need in metastatic breast cancer patients to monitor therapy response in real time. In this study, we show how a noninvasive and affordable strategy based on sequencing of plasma samples with longitudinal tracking of tumour fraction paired with a statistical model provides valuable information on treatment response in advance of the ...

Multidimensional OMICs reveal ARID1A orchestrated control of DNA damage, splicing, and cell cycle in normal‐like and malignant urothelial cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the frequently mutated chromatin remodeler ARID1A, a subunit of the SWI/SNF cBAF complex, results in less open chromatin, alternative splicing, and the failure to stop cells from progressing through the cell cycle after DNA damage in bladder (cancer) cells. Created in BioRender. Epigenetic regulators, such as the SWI/SNF complex, with important

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Real-time testing of the on-site warning algorithm in southern California and its performance during the July 29 2008 M_w5.4 Chino Hills earthquake [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The real-time performance of the τ_c -P_d on-site early warning algorithm currently is being tested within the California Integrated Seismic Network (CISN).
