GIS-Based Spatial Analysis for the Integrated Transport-Land Use-Energy Planning: An Application to the Greater London

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Architecture, 2019
This work focuses on examining the possible advantages for the urban sustainability, derived from the integration of transport, land use and energy systems. The main aim is to develop a GIS-based method that can help decision makers, either public or private, improving the economic, social and environmental sustainability of urban areas through an ...

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Non-Registered Coastal Land Tenure and Community Protection in the Energy Transition Era [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Community tenure over unregistered state land in coastal areas, such as former fish ponds, coastal boundaries, and reclaimed land, has existed for generations but lacks formal legal recognition.

A Spatial Analysis of the Potentials for Offshore Wind Farm Locations in the North Sea Region: Challenges and Opportunities

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2020
Over the last decade, the accelerated transition towards cleaner means of producing energy has been clearly prioritised by the European Union through large-scale planned deployment of wind farms in the North Sea. From a spatial planning perspective, this

Field Report from Collaborative Research Center 1625: Heterogeneous Research Data Management Using Ontology Representations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A unified research data management framework for heterogeneous materials data is presented. The system integrates multimodal datasets using ontologies and knowledge graphs, enabling interoperability and FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) data principles. By linking data across scales and workflows, it supports reproducible, Artifitial

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Density Measurement of Irradiated and Nonirradiated Zirconium Oxide by Ptychographic X‐Ray Computed Tomography (PXCT)

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mass density governs the protective behavior of oxide layers on nuclear fuel cladding. Ptychographic X‐ray computed tomography measures zirconium oxide grown on Zircaloy‐4 under reactor and autoclave conditions, revealing nearly identical bulk densities of 5.1 ± 0.80 g cm−3.
